L had coordinated with local law enforcement and some of the more agile members of the crew for his booth. After he had considered some of the alternative ways that the Winding Way could have chosen to make its repair money, he had made it his mission to see to it that the fair was at least partially dedicated to the rule of Justice and law.

He had therefore decided to open up a self-defense lesson booth. Watari had often stressed the importance of those skills out in a world like Reial, and although self-defense was something that needed years to learn properly, a few basics could be taught in a matter of hours.

He did have a secondary motive for the booth, as well. He wasn't on board with the Winding Way's 'extracurricular' activities, but by holding an event about safety and Justice it was possible that reputation would end up attached to the Winding Way. It certainly couldn't hurt. The idea that creating this false reputation helped the Way's thieving did cross his mind but he chose to ignore it.

Rikku had wanted to get pity money, being in a wheelchair, but she realized that just being in the wheelchair at the fair would probably boost income a bit. So she was going to call people's attention to Riku, doing...whatever he did.

"Okay, what are you doing again?" asked the blonde as she wheeled herself over to Riku, Turtle in her lap.

Riku spread out the blanket from his bed on the uneven paving stones in the square to add a bit of padding to his gloved fingers, smoothing out the creases carefully, checking for any sign of a stone that might throw him off. Satisfied after a moment, he turned to the blond, still on his hands and knees. "I'm going to do some acrobatic stunts..." getting to his knees, he bent his spine until there were audible pops. "I hope I'm still in the right shape. It's been awhile..>"

"Well, if all else fails, you can do sword tricks, right?" Rikku asked, getting as close to the blanket that she could before sliding out and scooting over to Riku.

"Yeah, but not anything really exciting like dervishing or sword-swallowing." He replied, pulling her in to kiss her on the cheek affectionately.

Rhyme had organized most of the area for the petting zoo, there were cats, dogs, mice and birds all congregated around the small penned off area, and they were all behaving very well.

She sat at the entrance with a fake smile plastered on, even though she was a hair's breath away from tears. Ness was gone, he'd left, and the fact that he had said she and Hana were his best friends made it worse not better.

She sat, taking the occasional coin from the child or parent who wanted to play with the animals, she even smiled and told them all about the animals and even tried to sell some of the kittens that still needed homes.

Fobbie was sleeping on her lap, and she was pretty, but she wasn't a very good substitute for Noise or Hana.

Laharl huffed irritatedly for what must have been the fifteenth time in the last hour. Stupid backwater world without dimensional gates - he had to walk *all* the way to where the Winding Way was carrying his sword (at least he found a strap to carry it with - it was a pain holding it all the time) and the big sack of bandit loot and reward money ( ... )

Rhyme smiled at the boy standing next to her. He seemed like he wasn't in a very good mood. She wasn't either, but some bad moods could be cured with kittens.

"It's a petting zoo," she said. "You pay a small fee-" she pointed to the sign stating the price- "and then you can go in and pet the animals. It makes people happy."

There are a few kids who seem to be enjoying the whole process, most of the parents look bored.

Laharl scratched his head with his free hand. "Pet the animals...wait, they're pets?"

Not as cool as a gladitorial battle, but this could yet be a good show. Sometimes pet zombies back home would get a little ornery and start gnawing on their master, and they'd have to go and get an axe and chop them up until they behaved. Always fun to watch.

He turned back to the girl. "Oh, I get ya. Any of them get annoyed yet?" As if to answer his own question, now that he was actually facing the girl, he could see she wasn't armed.

"Huh...I guess not, or you'd be more eaten. You new to handling pets?"

It'd been some time since he'd attended a fair or a festival. Doumeki was pretty sure that one was with Watanuki and Himawari, as they always seemed to be after he met them, and most of it was spent with Watanuki fawning over Himawari, and Himawari laughing at Watanuki yelling at him. The usual routine.

At the moment, however, he was walking by booths, looking at them with his usual deadpan expression. It was mostly to make sure that everything was going smoothly, since he really had no interest in participating in many, if any at all. There was, of course, the food he would most definitely be getting to shortly.

Well, Watanuki's, at least. He had yet to try Giselle or Tohru's food, and still wouldn't unless Watanuki seemed confident in their skills.

Either way, he still had his bow and a quiver of arrows with him, simply because Zidane seemed to interested in seeing what he could do with them.

Zidane had been bouncing between booths in an almost similar way. Half because it was his job and half because he genuinely wanted to see what the others had come up with. The Way definitely came off as a creative bunch, so he had high hopes. Right now nothing big seemed to be going on.

Glancing away from the kissing booth, Zidane spotted his fellow boatswain. A grin appeared as he realized he was carrying his bow.

Ah ha.

"Doumeki!" Zidane waved him down and walked over to him.

"Zidane," he replied calmly, though there was some form of amusement in his tone as he lifted a hand up in greeting. It was probably a bad thing to think, but to Doumeki, the other boatswain was a little childish in most of the things he did. He was sure he could handle the position, but as of yet, he hadn't actually shown him that capability.

He figured it would happen soon enough, though. Much of the Way's crew could be surprising.

A very slight smirk showed up, and he tipped his head a little, as though nodding to the bow and quiver over his shoulder. "I hope you have an apple."

Zidane nodded his head back as he reached him. He crossed his arms and smirked much more noticeably than Doumeki.

"I'll get an apple after I see you hit a bull's eye. I don't care how good you say you are, I'm not sticking this face in front of an arrow without proof." He said with a shrug.

Honestly, he was curious if all his bragging was backed up by actual skill.

Having finished putting up some last minute promotional items around town, Jenrya was carrying a box of supplies back to storage when Al's booth had caught his eye. From the looks of it, Al had been targeted by one of those well-intentioned but talkative elders. Poor guy.

Jenrya waited for the old woman to finish her final tale before strolling up to the other boy's booth and setting the cardboard supply box down on the counter. "Well, it looks like you're having a lot of fun," he said with a light laugh.

In all honesty, Jenrya didn't think that he could do any better than Al was. A good salesman was outgoing and able to grab the attention of those around them. Jenrya wasn't that type of person. Standing out... was generally something that he tried to avoid.

"Nothing new, really. Playing errand boy is what I do every day," Jenrya sighed. It was true. Errand boy, Cabin boy, there wasn't much of a difference. For the most part, he'd been running around taking care of a variety of tasks that needed to be done: passing out fliers around town, grabbing supplies for others who couldn't leave their booths unattended, and in one instance, helping a lost little girl find her mom, to name a few.

"But it looks like I have some free time on my hands now. There's nothing left for me to do. I feel sort of useless."
