In the Vernacular; a review

I feel I should preface by saying lately I've been feeling my writing degree slipping into oblivion, inches away from my gameboy, those shoes that aren't quite cute enough to make up for the fact that they pinch my feet and the idea that I will ever give up diet soda. In other words: pointless. In an effort to avoid falling victim to the 'use it or ( Read more... )

This is an excellent write up, and I love the caps you included. You caught the pivotal points of the episode and tied them all together beautifully ( ... )

Thank you, this was my first time doing a full out review - as opposed to just "Hee, how adorable is Brennan?! *squee*" - so I was hoping I wasn't too monotonous, but I really enjoyed writing it! :)

The Cam/Brennan speech parallels had to be on purpose, right? The word choice, even, was too similar to have been a coincidence. Though I might be prone to reading too much into things if it WAS on purpose it's just yet another reason to love this show.

I have a feeling heartbreak and woe is going to be a major theme of season 6, but if it's crafted well it could make for an amazing season. I love GOOD angst, as long as it's kept fresh.

-if not as a way to make Brennan jealous then as a way to try to force himself to move on.I definitely think that's a huge part of it, and I don't think it's deliberate but I think it will become obvious - if it hasn't already, I have a feeling Sweets will pick up on it, he seemed concerned about the pacing of the Hannah/Booth relationship, I hope he stays on that concern. I mentioned Sully above, and I ( ... )

Interesting, and I agree with your insights.

most heart-breaking scene for me? the finale --- Brennan's leaving to go home to an empty apartment, and Booth's saying "See You Tomorrow" - no "why not stay longer", no "just one more drink", just...a sad goodbye.

Definitely heartbreaking, but I love moments like that - so fraught with meaning even without words. That's the Booth/Brennan I know!

more than I fear the show being over the top, I fear the parody being accurate.

Sad to say, but it really was dead on accurate. In fact, it might actually have been less idiotic than the real Jersey Shore. I say this not only from having seen a few eps, but from having grown up surrounded by the same kind of nitwits. One of the guys on the show comes from the next town over from me and there are plenty more where he came from. I suspect inbreeding.

Brennan's speech to Hannah about not breaking Booth's heart reminded me so much of Cam's speech to Booth about not breaking Brennan's heart.

When he said to Angela that she'd be a great mom, I was instantly reminded of him saying it to Brennan at the end of Critic in the Cabernet and wondered if Brennan was also reminded and how it made her feel. 'Course, we didn't see any recognition on her part, but it would have been nice if we had.

Oh, interesting, I didn't draw the connection to the line about being a great mom - but I've been sort of sitting in wait to see when in the Angela pregnancy storyline they'll bring up Brennan's season 4 storyline, because you KNOW they're going to. I'm interested in the Angela storyline on it's own and want it to remain "her" story - love her - but it should be interesting to see if Brennan's past attempts to have a baby with Booth will play into the Hannah story at all.

I really enjoyed seeing Cam and Booth find out about the baby. They were both so genuinely happy for her and Hodgins. It was nice to see a true moment between the other characters on the show as well. And how Angela is going to explain that she let the cat out of the bag to Hodgins is something that I am looking forward to. Poor Hodgins has his thunder stolen.

I think in thefirst episode they explained where all the interns went and said that Fisher was committed and the reason Wendall was in the first one was because he was the only one still in town. But now, they are all coming back. Still not sure how I feel about that, actually.

Anyway, I really enjoyed your thoughts and the accompanying pictures. Well done.

Yes, I love team moments like that. I love the relationship between each of the core characters and which they mixed them up a little more for one-on-one moments, they all have such great chemistry.

I'm constantly on the fence about the interns, I really do find some of the characters enjoyable but at the same time I wouldn't be bothered at all if they weren't on the show anymore. However, I much prefer the rotating set up to them actually choosing one - because, to me, if they chose one it would feel too much like they were messing with the core lab dynamic of Brennan/Angela/Hodgins/Cam - I don't like change.

Loved the caps, loved your observations. Booth and Brennan have both finally 'grown up' in a way, now they just need to figure out where they are in terms of each other.
Baseball?!? Seriously? oh man! So evil, and of course those of us across the ocean don't even know about it...thanks for the head-up:)

Right? it's a major bummer -- after next week I believe it'll be on hiatus until November 4th. That's the last I heard, at least!
