In the Vernacular; a review

I feel I should preface by saying lately I've been feeling my writing degree slipping into oblivion, inches away from my gameboy, those shoes that aren't quite cute enough to make up for the fact that they pinch my feet and the idea that I will ever give up diet soda. In other words: pointless. In an effort to avoid falling victim to the 'use it or ( Read more... )

Thank you! I really enjoyed writing it.

"I do rather expect that, after Angela put a moratorium on sharing baby news...then shared with three folks...that the punch line is not going to be Hodgins' big announcement being blown but Hodgins having also quietly shared with a number of folks."

That'd be a be pretty cute way to take it, and fitting for them. Sweets is the only regular character left that doesn't know but I guess he could tell some of the interns and even it out.

And yes! I've been anxiously waiting to hear Hodgins' backstory since season 2. This father-to-be storyline would be a great opportunity to explore his past and I will be disappointed if they don't, as I think he's the character we know the least about.

I do so enjoy Cam's "I'm the only sane one here" face, she does it so well.

I also wonder if Angela's moratorium to Hodgins, while she is sharing that she's pregnant, might be indicative of her having a level of nervousness about this next big change, might be about a level of ambivalence that she's not yet ready to be perceived as a parent first and "Angela" second.

You know, I've actually been wondering something similar myself. I've been trying to figure out if it was a writing choice or an acting choice but their scenes together do seem to play out as him being 100% on team best-thing-ever and her a bit more reigned in.

Which could just be reflective of a difference in the characters' personalities - and her playing the calm to his spaz - or even the actors personalities and how they chose to play certain emotions (TJ is SUCH an enthusiastic person) but if on purpose, I think it's kind of an interesting angle, to have her be the one that's nervous about it - considering in season 3 she was all about the idea, while he was the one overwhelmed.
