We are waiting for the Gatekeepers to come to their final decisions, but that's not reason to sit around and do nothing. There are still entries to be read! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/811500.htmlRead more... )

Got the cast taken off and my wrist looks the same as it did before.
This puzzles Hand Doc greatly, especially the swelling (it's on my pinky side, reckless_blues -- the break is where my ulna connects to the outermost wrist bones). Evidently the tear in the ligament that holds the ulna and radius together when you turn your wrist/arm/hand is still there. So...yeah, surgery. Eventually. They want to get the swelling down first so I got a cortisone shot. OMFG and I thought the pain in my knee was bad when I got one there. It doesn't even come close.
On the bright side they gave me the OK to try to go back to work. Decorating only if I can handle it. I've got to hammer all this out tomorrow with HR.
BTW, Methinks Gary is dragging out this waiting-for-the-Gatekeepers because he's Gary ;) In other words, I'm not a Gatekeeper, just in case anyone was wondering.

Pill form? I've never heard of it in pill form.
It works pretty well on my knee. I had one in my lower back many years ago which didn't take (I still have issues with it from time to time). But OMG, I never dreamed it'd hurt this badly. The hand doc said I'd be cursing his name come tomorrow. I believe it!

It's possible I'm misremembering, it's been a year since I've had to have it. But there's a pill-form steroid for breathing that they use if I have a major flare-up. (Along with the cough medicine that I'm allergic to, which might also be why I remember those weeks with extreme prejudice.) (Also neither of them work super well, really, although the steroid is better than the cough syrup.)

Cortisone is awful. I don't even get shots -- mine is in pill form -- and it is Seriously Awful. :( *lots of hugs*
