I think all of fandom cried in their soul. :(

...okay, now I am not going to be satisfied unless the gag reel contains them fake!proposing in that scene.

..honestly? I whacked pause after "I did it all for you" so I could wail. YES, I AM NOW THE KIND OF CRAZY OTPER WHO LAMENTS OTHER SHIPS GETTING ANY SUBTEXT.

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

YOU CALL THAT SUBTEXT? XDDD

YES, YES I DO.

Okay, fine, Castiel's devotion to Dean is text. But either of them wanting to stick their dicks into the other because of it is still entirely SUBtextual. :P

Well, clearly, because textually, Castiel is likely asexual and Dean is straight. Just like, textually, that's extremely brotherly love... XD

IT IS ALSO TEXT THAT DEAN WANTS HIS BROTHER MORE THAN SOME GIRL IN A G-STRING.

Okay, yes, the "...sexually" of that is also subtext. BUT ONLY JUST BARELY.

TBH, the subtext is the best thing about the show. Mmmm... subtextual.

(Now I wish I'd snagged a copy of that icon that says "subtext is what Sam writes in spit across Dean's back when they're fucking". Because it's still funny. And also oh so appropriate for this conversation!)

Also, upon rewatching, Dean coming over to ask what's wrong is v. pleasing

It's like they're pretending to be grown-ups now! I was pleased.

THE PERSONIFICATION OF WAR FINDS SAMMY ADORABLE. TRUFAX.

Re "I did it all for you" remember that Castiel called Sam's phone, not Dean's. He is pretty grumpy at Dean right now! (LOL, as per our previous conversation about Castiel getting grounded in the Jimmy episode, it's like now he's been disowned and kicked out on the street all for the sake of the bad-boy down the block who is totally smitten with his girlfriend anyway and doesn't even caaaare. Poor Castiel! Sucks to be you. Your rib carvings are mighty fine, though; have you considered an exhibit?)

I find the entirety of your last paragraph to be trufax. Dean/Castiel is really ridiculously unrequited and I love it anyway. ♥

It entertains me!

It's just awkward because half of my flist is all GOD CASTIEL JUST GTFO and it makes me sadface - I have this whole weird fandom meta in my head about how shipping Sam/Dean and Dean/Castiel is like being bisexual, and the crap you get from both sides, and how the fact that I ship both but pretty much only write Sam/Dean is like when I have a boyfriend and can 'pass' for straight, and, um. Possibly I am the only one who finds that metaphor lulzy, but I am tempted to write up a post on it anyway.

I find that metaphor to be exceedingly lulzy. And there are all these arguments about why the other side is bad and wrong and shouldn't be allowed to adopt children >:|

I wonder if my switching sides from Dean!girl to Sam!girl had anything to do with Sam and Dean swapping roles of which one is the one that's willing to go too far, and which one that is still capable of taking their general sense of morality into account when assessing a situation which gravely threatens the other.

IK THAT IS WHAT SWITCHED ME 8D Pretty much as soon as Sam became emotionally repressed, morally ambiguous and a bit of a bastard, my scales started tipping. (Or rather, as soon as I realised he was blah blah blah. SAM HAS BEEN CRAZY SINCE S1, I TELL YOU. SINCE S1!)

omg theoooooo they are so sad and broken. SELLOTAPE

OF COURSE SAM HAS BEEN CRAZY SINCE S1. In actual fact, I first started considering Sam to be my preferred kind of crazy in Faith, and I first started considering Dean to be my preferred kind of crazy in Devil's Trap, when he shot the possessed person through the head (awww... remember when that was shocking? GASP, GASP, HE KILLED AN INNOCENT PERSON! :O! OMGOSH!), it's just that back then Sam's crazy seemed more my wishful thinking and Dean's crazy seemed more canon backed. Also Dean had adorable abandonment issues of something? TBQH, when I think back to not being a Sam!girl, it does kind of baffle me. HOW DID I NOT LOVE SAM'S WEE FACE BEST???

SELLOTAPE IS THE ONLY ANSWER.

IDK, last season I was all, GRRR, STEP AWAY FROM THE DEAN, CAS, but this season I'm completely convinced that Sam and Dean will get back together so spectacularly that I just laugh at Castiel's little crush.

Strangely, I was like that most of last season! I guess it's that Sam and Dean seem to be very tentatively fixing themselves (if in a quite hurty way) and it's like right now I do not have room for anything of than holding my breath over the fragile balance that Sam and Dean are reaching, and Castiel is a distraction. Like when someone walks in and tries to talk to you when you're very focussed on something and all you can do is throw up a hand and go "No! No! Shh! Go away! Busy! Concentrating! Come back later!".
