[Some would call it an act of unflinching selflessness, others, one of great stupidity. Opinion cannot reverse what she has done. Garnet has gone and exchanged her arm (and a great deal of her hair) for her white magic. Unlike others who have been butchered unwittingly, Garnet has knowingly made the sacrifice to regain her healing abilities after ( Read more... )

[Stops dead in his tracks when he sees the Summoner wandering the streets with just one arm. All he can do is stare for a few long moments.]

"...Garnet..."

[And then his face flashes with anger as he clenches his fists and runs over.]

"What the hell did you do!"

[Turns with a gasp at the sound of Jecht's voice, her expression pinched by guilt. He is the last person she wants to see right now. He had promised to protect her...and she had gone and placed herself in danger. She wants to hide, turning away so that her left side isn't visible to him. She's trembling slightly now as the reality of what she has done sets in.]

...I did...what I had to, Sir Jecht. Please forgive me.

[Growls.]

"I regained my white magic." [She still won't look him in the eye.]

"Zidane was dying! The streets are filled with people who need help! I couldn't stand by and do nothing."

[Here's the boy you talked to once on the phone. He, too, has been sticking around the area waiting for the injured to come by -- When he sees a girl without her arm, he naturally runs up with a worried expression on his face.]

Miss . . . ! Your arm! Hold on, I'll -- . . . Oh! Oh, good.

[He slows down as he realizes it's healed.]

You should go home and rest . . .

[Turns with a surprised exclamation at the sound of the familiar voice. She regards the child with a furrowed brow, expression brightening when she does recognize him.] Oh, there's no need, Lucas... [She brushes her fingers over the spot where her arm should be, frowning slightly.]

Perhaps I should...but not yet. Not while people might still need help.

Huh?

[It takes him a little while.]

Miss Garnet? It looks more like you should be getting help than giving it.

[She nods her head when he calls her by name, as if to say, "Yes, that's right, it is me."] N-no, I'll be alright...You weren't hurt, were you?

What happened?

[Turns at the sound of a familiar voice.] ...Pamela?
[Sighs.] Someone I really care about was dying, so I gave up my arm and my hair for my white magic.

[Nods. She's regained her ghost body, so she seems to fade in and out of transparency at times, along with the floating.]

Someone you care about...? That's terrible- why would you have to give up an arm?

[Reacts with wide-eyed astonishment when she sees how Pamela fades in and out of visibility. She must have gone to see the Postman...But what did she trade? From the sounds of it, she isn't even aware of the gruesome "processing fee".]

Because the Postman took his hand when he reclaimed his tail. He was bleeding very badly - so I turned in some box tops for my white magic. He took my arm in addition... [Reaches up to feel what is left of her locks.] As well as my hair.

[Garnet looks up just in time to see Splendid stumble out of the post office. She muffles a cry with her hands: his is the worst injury she has seen all day.] Oh no...hold on!!!

[She rushes to Splendid, the Curaga that will keep him from completely exsanguinating racing ahead of her in a brilliant arc. She reaches him just after the spell washes him in healing light. Garnet reaches out to him, hand resting over his collar bone. This gesture steadies her as much as it steadies him. She casts Regen on him as a precaution, knowing he'll be woozy from blood loss.] What did you reclaim?...What could have come at such a cost?

[He can't answer yet- shock has gotten to him, so Splendid just looks down at her with blank and cloudy eyes. She might need to slap him.]

[She won't slap him just yet... But she will give him a good shake. He needs to get a hold of himself.] Splendid, Splendid, look at me. Fight it!

I am so sorry for this. doesntpoop August 15 2010, 01:04:33 UTC
[Dahlia was walking back from work. She might have thought that grabbing the box tops might have been worth it, if one of the 'prizes' was Mia Fey's eternal suffering. Sadly, however, that was not on the list and none of her other 'prizes' were really worth giving up - she was certainly not losing a leg just for a parasol and she was especially not prepared to give up anything to bring her backstabbing sister or her twisted mother here either. That, and the only prize which might have been worth obtaining was too predictable - Mia Fey, 'Feenie' and Diego Armando all knew about the poisoned necklace. No, she had to find a different way to make them all suffer...

As she went down the street, she stopped curiously to find a young girl, who was missing an arm. Obviously, this girl was one of the many people who were stupid enough to actually go to the post office and gain their prizes. Dahlia immediately pretended to look shocked and worried]

Oooooo, this should be interesting. thelittlecanary August 16 2010, 02:44:01 UTC
[Having just finished attending a young man who had lost both of his arms, Garnet's looking a little worse for the wear. Her outfit, a prim collared shirt and a long A-line skirt, are tattered and spattered with blood. The left side of her body is practically washed in it, but that has long since dried. A lot of this blood isn't hers, but at a glance, who could tell?

She looks up to find Dahlia staring at her, and shifts so that the fact that she's missing a limb isn't screamingly apparent. People have been staring all day, but it's still a little strange, a little unsettling.] C...can I help you, miss?

No, it's alright, don't be sorry. [Sighs and looks towards the post office.] ...I traded it for my white magic.
