Look, Ma, More Vids! (Part Three)

Jan 14, 2006 22:05

The sad part is, I'm still not done. But this is part three of the Insane Vid Recs Project (no, I did not pick January for this just because of all the Insane January Vidding Projects going around; it's just a happy, crazy coincidence). Feel free to truck on back to parts two and one. You will particularly want to read the explanation of why you ( Read more... )

Thanks for the Ocean's 11 rec... I do SO love that movie and Rusty and Danny were just... SO doing it.

Yes. Yes, they were. And as far as I am concerned (well, obviously - I mean, I wrote a Fandoms I Have Loved about Ocean's 11 before there really was much of a fandom to love - back then, it was just musesfool and Dorinda's story, pretty much), O11 is a wonderful movie. Shininess! Technology of various kinds! Snappy dialog! And two guys so totally doing it OMG. It doesn't get better than that. (Okay, I'm shallow. But I'm happy in my shallowness.)

*basks in the perfection of the O11 vids again*

Spock's the taller, slightly slumpy one who wears too much eyeshadow, and Kirk is the shorter, yellower one

Just when I think I couldn't love you more ...

(ST:TOS was My First Fandom, btw. Behold the power of cheese.)

Behold the power of cheese.

Cheese: it drives the fannish universe. (In our universe, we don't have gravity, electromagnetic, strong nuclear, and weak nuclear; we have cheese, sexual chemistry, prettiness, and kink.)

So, you would love to know then (in case it isn't clear) that it's Duncan driving the red car and he tries on purpose to run Methos over, right? Because it is just as much the lurv, I promise. :D

Thank you so much for this. The timing was kindness itself, as I was sort of fiddling around with a vid project (unsuccessfully) last night, and the words "I guess it's official, I am the suck when it comes to vids," had just gone through my head not one minute before I scrolled down and saw this entry. Of course, this does not make my WIP suck less, but it did make me feel better. *hugs*

OMG, I love "Would You?" so much. The LOVE. The Sex. Eeee.

Kirk is the shorter, yellower one

*laughs and laughs and laughs*

So. Um. Would this be the same episode as the Sincerely Loving Shooting? And if so, which episode is it? I ask purely out of curiosity, you understand.

Of course, this does not make my WIP suck less, but it did make me feel better.

*hugs*

And, see, part of me wants to tell you that you could never, ever suck at vidding, because I firmly believe that. But I'm also exceedingly, painfully familiar with the fourth stage of fannish creation. ("And the fan looked at what she had done, and she saw that it pretty much SUCKED, and she said it sucked and boy did it suck. And then she ate some chocolate and read some porn and tried to remember why she even started this damn project.") So instead I will offer hugs and condolences and my sincere hope that you get to stage five pretty soon. ("And the fan, or possibly one of her betas, or her spouse, or ( ... )

Alas, no. The car-running-Methos-over is in "Deliverance," which is the second part of a two-parter (comes after "Something Wicked"). AKA, "Duncan goes evil and Methos leaves his girlfriend on her deathbed to come save Duncan's soul." Duncan is all "I am bad! Look how bad I am! I might even... kick a puppy! Or something! But only because it's making you pay attention to me."

Really, Evil Duncan's idea of Evil is really more small-e evil, but his acting out to get Methos' attention is very cute.

Update: vid WIP still sucks. But I care less. :D

The first vid I knew to "Closer" was a Spike/Angel vid, which premiered at Escapade a few years ago, and which was very impressive at the time because Marsters wasn't yet on Angel and yet the genius who made the vid managed to cut footage together as though they had been onscreen together in that show. I apologize to whoever made it for the fact that I can't remember who you are; it was awesome.

So the following year, when I heard the strains of "Closer" coming from this room at Escapade, I thought, "oh, yeah, that Spike/Angel vid, I liked that," and went in to watch. And then my head exploded because it was the ST:TOS one instead! *g*

I adore that Trek vid. Absolutely, positively adore it. :-)

Ooo - sisabet's Closer? Because that one is excellent, too. It was one of the first vids I'd seen in any fandom, and it was, shall we say, an education in what you can suggest with skilled clipping and editing.

Frankly, I think there are many fandoms and pairings that could do with a Closer vid. (Tell me you don't want to see Buffy/Faith in their own Closer vid. Or John/Ronon. Or Keller/Beecher. Or Blair/Jim. Oh. You don't? It's just me? Um. Yeah, okay, sorry.) Smallville has one, too, and - yes. Who can say no to implied non-con right there on the screen? I mean, I don't even like non-con in fic - like, really really not - and I'm just enthralled by Closer vids ( ... )

My love for you and your vidrecs cannot be textually rendered.

That Carbon Leaf vid has been haunting my dreams since ConneXions 2005, but I couldn't remember who'd made it. I could kiss you just for THAT.

Today, I have Served a Purpose. I have reunited the fabulous Queue with her long-lost vidlove!

*is entirely willing to accept any and all kisses, at least from someone as cool as you*

(And, seriously, I am not kidding about the emailing for the better version thing. It is so gorgeous. And LotR vids really give you good value for your larger file size.)

You HAVE! You HAVE! I owe it all to you!

...and I'm not sure you have the right girl on the coolness front - in fact, I'd say it's dollars to donuts you have absolutely the wrong girl - but darlin', I will happily bestow affection on you any time you want or need it, because you deserve it richly.

(Just so's you know, I emailed for the better version pretty much immediately upon reading your rec, because I. um. obey you blindly in all things. FYI. Use this power for good!)
