This place hadn't started grating on him yet. The true horror had yet to sink in. He hadn't been forced to comprehend that he was trapped trapped like a fly in a spider's web. The door wouldn't budge, his portals wouldn't take him very far- all the signs were pointing in an obvious direction, but he wasn't going to sit around and take it. Axel wasn't going to take the easy answer here. Not now, not ever ( ... )

'Hey, remember a couple of days back? When I slipped?' Kairi asked.

'Yeah. Man, Kairi, you really had me scared there!' Sora exclaimed, momentarily freeing his mouth from the ice cream bar.

'We thought you were going to drown,' Riku replied solemnly, gazing at the ground.

'Yeah, but I didn't. You two saved me. Just like you always do.'

'Aw, it was nothing,' Sora said.

'Anything for you, Kai,' Riku murmured.

'So, what about it?' Questioned Sora.

'Well, ever since then I felt . . . different.'

'Different?'

'Yeah.'

'Like how?' Queried Riku.

Kairi shrugged. 'I dunno. Just different.'

The Kairi trapped in the monster house frowned to herself as she listened to this otherworldly conversation. That Kairi felt different because she was different. She was missing her true self, which was here, sitting on the stair steps to nothing. After she slipped in the ocean and ended up in this house, she was no longer back home. That Kairi was just a replacement, somehow ( ... )

His own eyes narrowed with the same feeling. How did she know his name? In any other situation, in some other world, from someone else's mouth, he would have swelled with pride. Oozed with the egotistical air he seemed to be addicted to portraying.

"So, you've heard of me, have you?" He recovered, and placed one foot on the first step. The other one followed as soon as he had a hand on the railing ( ... )

As he came closer, she took an instinctive step back. The unfortunate times she had encountered Axel she had at first ran away, and then tried to fight back. Her new friends - Hayner, Pence, and Olette - had tried to help the struggle, but he had pushed them aside like flies. Is that what he would try to do now? Was he once more trying to get Roxas back, since in the end, Roxas had stayed with Sora?

It was too late, though, if that was the case. Sora had left, and there was no way they could leave. Unless they found out how Sora had, but she doubted they could. Sora was the Keyblade Master - in her mind, he could do almost anything. Little did either know, however, that Roxas was actually here.

"Heard of you? You kidnapped me. Remember?" She nearly rolled her eyes, not getting rid of the defensive tone of voice or her on-guard stance. If he was going to try to act stupid and mock her, she'd mock him right back. "And then Saïx found me," She continued. Saïx had been worse than Axel. He had locked her up, but ultimately for the same ( ... )

His hand tightened around the railing for support at her explanation. This was crazy! She wasn't psychic, was she? Axel hadn't even come near her until now, hadn't even really considered it until it was his last option. He planned to kidnap her, sure, and he had been on his way to do so, but to say he had already done it? That was flat-out impossible.

He didn't ease up at all when she mentioned Saïx, if anything he put his walls up. That member was a real pain. Speaking of, was he here too? He wouldn't put it above them to sweep the Princess of Heart off her island (right out from under his nose) and put her here, where they thought he either wouldn't find her, or she would never escape.

The last straw was talking about his death. He had been willing to listen, but that last point was cutting it a little too close. "Sorry to disappoint, princess, but if I had died... I wouldn't be standing here. Would I?" His attitude was back and ready to rebuff whatever curve-ball she had to throw at him ( ... )
