'Yeah. Man, Kairi, you really had me scared there!' Sora exclaimed, momentarily freeing his mouth from the ice cream bar.
'We thought you were going to drown,' Riku replied solemnly, gazing at the ground.
'Yeah, but I didn't. You two saved me. Just like you always do.'
'Aw, it was nothing,' Sora said.
'Anything for you, Kai,' Riku murmured.
'So, what about it?' Questioned Sora.
'Well, ever since then I felt . . . different.'
'Different?'
'Yeah.'
'Like how?' Queried Riku.
Kairi shrugged. 'I dunno. Just different.'
The Kairi trapped in the monster house frowned to herself as she listened to this otherworldly conversation. That Kairi felt different because she was different. He wouldn't put it above them to sweep the Princess of Heart off her island (right out from under his nose) and put her here, where they thought he either wouldn't find her, or she would never escape.
The last straw was talking about his death. He had been willing to listen, but that last point was cutting it a little too close. "Sorry to disappoint, princess, but if I had died... I wouldn't be standing here. Would I?" His attitude was back and ready to rebuff whatever curve-ball she had to throw at him ( ... )
