I think what you're feeling is perfectly natural. You've heard them all before boy-girl "crushes", girl "crushes", boy "crushes" but in the end I bet a very small percentage actually end up being feelings that that turn into "head over heels", "over the top", "madly in love" type crush. Don't you think most end up being admiration, desired to be close friends with and have them like you (as in a friendly way), respect or even envy?
I know I've had those crushes as a kid, teenager and adult. The adult ones are the worse in my opinion because you're more apt to want to figure them out and put labels on the instead of just enjoying it. But I still haven't figured out why the "crushes" are so much harder on you the older you get. You're still young - don't try to figure them out, just enjoy them while they last :)
Oh, and good for you for making your goal in that writing thing!
I wonder if this is a result of having a sibling so many years older than you and having no brothers. Having the older sibling meant you didn't have a close sibling tie when you were younger. The kind of relationship where you could just hang out and lean on each other. No brothers (until Andy)probably didn't give you experience in boy/brother affection. I'm glad you are able to realize these "crushes" aren't more than friendly affection. So much to learn, eh?
