It had been a very trying few days in this place. Marian had slept for much of it, her body needing the rest both to remove the rest of the hemlock, and to help heal her wound

Gus walked into the clinic with Hamlet on his heels. His head was throbbing, the bruises across his nose and under his eye turned interesting shades of purple and yellow, and he thought he might try and scrounge up another couple of pain pills...not that he'd ever admit that to Mayko.
He stood in the clinic, looking around for someone who looked like a Doctor and not finding anyone.
Hamlet trundled over to the occupied bed, snuffling.
"Hamlet..." said Gus, his tone a definate warning. "The lady's sick enough without you being a nusiance."
Katurian wasn't entirely sure why he still came by the clinic. His wounds were healed, almost completely scarred over, save the one on his wrist that he still tended to scratch at a bit, so there was really no reason for him to be there. But it's where he was, and he was looking for a doctor when he stumbled upon a woman he'd never seen before. "Oh, uh, sorry," he stammered, hands automatically waving in front of him. "I take it you're not a doctor?"
The thought of a woman being a doctor still seemed preposterous to Mary, even though she had seen some here. Djaq was a different thing entirely, a moor, and moors were known for being odd.
She gave him a smile though, as she shook her head. "It is alright. I am not a Doctor, but I am sure one will be in soon if it is what you need."
Katurian quickly shook his head, seeming almost defensive. "Oh, no, ah, I was looking for one, but I don't need to see one," he explained, and once still, managed a smile back. "It's...it's a long story. Not a very good one."
"Many stories are long. They are often better than people hope they would be." She was unsure of what turn her own story had taken. This place, everything was so strange.
Archie had simply been wandering through the compound in need of a quiet corner in which to read Throne of Jade which was the sequel to His Majesty's Dragon which he had finished about a week or so ago. The bloody bookshelf had been holding out on him, but that hardly mattered. He noted the woman and her study of the various appliances in the clinic, recognizing and understanding what that meant because when he had arrived on the island, none of the strange contraptions had made much sense.
He cleared his throat, anxious to have her notice him because it would have been rude to continue observing her silently. And certainly Archie had no desire to be rude to a lady. "Hullo."
"Hello," Marian responded, looking up from her inspection of the.. Of the something or other, smiling. She was glad to see someone in the clinic, the boredom in this strange place could be overwhelming at times.
His bow made her drop into a small curtsy, though the pain that falred from her midriff indicated that it had not been a good idea.
Leaning back against the counter behind her, she tried her best to hide a grimace, her words coming through clenched teeth. "Lady Marian." The title he used was not one she had heard.
Veronica was passing through the clinic on her way to the IPD office, actually, with the intent of kidnapping Sam from his duties if he was around. The woman she saw on her way through was interesting, though - new, really, which was almost the same thing in her book. It wasn't that Veronica was so much good with new people as it was that she couldn't help herself. Besides, being on the council had drummed up enough of a sense of civic duty to last her a lifetime. "Who've you got for a doctor?" she asked, grinning a little. "Wilson, House, Grey, Chase? 'cause if it's Chase, give him a hard time for me."
Marian turned at the sound of someone coming into the clinic, looking at the strangely dressed blonde girl who enetered. The accent was so odd, yet so many here had it. "Doctor Chase I believe, and I am greatful for all that he has done for me. He may have saved my life."
Why she would 'give him a hard time' as this girl had put it confused her.
Veronica's grin softened to a smile and she nodded. "Sounds like Chase," she quipped with a wave of her hand. Crossing toward the woman, she said, "I'm Veronica. And you, I'm guessing, are new."
"Why would I give the one who saved my life a hard time?" Marian found herself off-kilter, "New? Yes, I am. I am Marian. Lady Marian." The use of her title helped her feel less unsure.
Arthur had been on his way to the dress rehearsal for the play, but he decided to stop in the clinic, so see if the woman had recovered. The doctor had told him she would survive, but Arthur still wanted to see her with his own eyes.
"Hello," he greeted gently, his face soft but somber. "Do you remember me, lady?"
She did remember his face, as well as the touch of his hand on her brow, though she'd been feverish at the time, half-drugged, and suspected that it was perhaps a dream. Doctor Chase had told her again later that she had been found by Arthur, and brought here, likely in the nick of time.
"I do," she smiled gratefully at the man, "and I have not had chance to thank you properly. For finding me and bringing me to this place."
"No thanks is needed," Arthur replied. "Although I do appreciate your words. I had little choice but to help you, finding you as I did."
Reassured that she knew him, Arthur picked up a chair and brought it to her bedside so that he might sit and accompany her for at least a few minutes. "The doctor thinks you shall heal well, I hope?"
"Many would not have helped. I appreciate greatly that you did not simply walk by." Marian smiled again, more warmly this time, truly grateful.
"He has told me so. Though I am not good at resting, and this place..." She looked at the clinic around them, "This place is strange. I find it hard to track the passing of the days in here."

"Please. I am much better." She looked at him with concern, "You are injured. Do you need help?"

He raised his eyebrows.
"This? Oh, no...It's broken but it's healing. I'm fine, honestly. You look in a much worse way than me."

Referring to the pig as 'he' even seemed odd.
"Injuries seem common here." Though she had not gained hers here, but at home. "It is nothing. Only a knife wound. It is healing."
She would not say how close she had come to dying.
