I don't think it makes a person a bad feminist or bad in any way to want marriage and children. I often run into this argument IRL that I'm somehow "weak" and "unintelligent" because I want to get married and have children and find that to be a better pursuit of life than other things. Different strokes for different folks, I guess, but I'd love nothing more than to take a few years off to raise a family.

I don't think it makes you a bad feminist either, nor do I think it would be wrong for you to want it, even if it did. To be clear. But then, I think you know that. I fully support your desires. <3

I'm not a gender studies expert but I think an important part of feminism is owning being a woman, no matter how that manifests for you.

Different waves of feminism have such different thoughts on what feminism means, I'm not going to hazard an attempt to summarize. But *my* feminism is about owning being a woman however that manifests for you.

I believe I said "blame" rather than shame since I was playing off "victim-blaming" but yeah, same basic thought.

I have to find short words. You use all the rest of them!

I think the thing that bothers me about this particular person saying "don't make this character have babies, this is ridiculous" is the... scientific "reasoning" behind it, which shakes out perfectly in the real world but doesn't necessarily apply in a world where people are shooting up vampire blood and doing frozen embryo transfers in Victorian England. Instead of approaching me about it, they just passive-aggressively wank about it in tumblr tags. I would have much preferred a "how did you come to this reasoning?" comment to being mocked for writing a fic I really enjoyed, like I'm a 13-year old with no understanding of reproductive biology instead of a 35-year old grownup with experience with infertility treatments.

But you know how I feel about that, I'll not rehash. :)

*lipquirk* I was trying not to call any particular fic out by names of writers. But we both know I love your fic, so. ;)

i encourage you in this struggle to find what's right. i don't know if it'll ever NOT be a struggle, at least for me.

We've been in these trenches a long time together. Sometimes, I really think the most important thing is to realize it IS a struggle.

Thanks for coming over to say so.

it's worthwhile. it doesn't seem so, sometimes, but it is. <3

Every time I do this, whether it's because there was a race debate or a squee-harshing wank or whatever they issue du jour was, I'm SO tired by the end. I'm exhausted. It's a long long long hard war, that doesn't seem to get anywhere.

Unrelatedly, or maybe completely relatedly, I would like to say: Adam Lambert, Johnny Weir and Lady Gaga are the most consistently civil people out there. ROLE MODELS FOR PASSION WITHOUT PRICKERY. We can have them.

So what do you say to fic that makes your Strong Male Character get married and give birth... O_O
