I have literally just finished painting my nails and one of them is chipped. How. WTF.

So we have a 'road map' out of lockdown, hooray! I will get to see a friend for a coffee and walk next week, and I CANNOT WAIT. I love my husband dearly, but I am so ready to spend time in someone else's company for a change.

And at the end of March (so ( Read more... )

So... what exactly does your job entail? I feel like I may have asked this before, but office jobs are a bit of a mystery to me. I imagine a world of returning emails and filing reports and scheduling meetings about the reports, which takes you back to emails. I know its scientific publishing, so I feel like I should have some understanding... maybe.

Actually, medical journal publishing was two jobs ago now (^-^;;;;;;;). I moved to an executive assistant role for finance VP at a CRO, and after three months was so utterly bored I ran away screaming to a senior admin job at a pharma company.

I provide admin support for three teams and a senior director (meeting planning, travel arrangements, etc.) plus project assistant work for the PMO (project management office), reports and project support for Regulatory Project Management, and my own personal project of trying to get the other admins in the company to work coherently, which is akin to herding cats. I took over lead of our Pride employee group at the local office, and also am part of the inclusion and diversity team - these are voluntary, but I get to include them in my goals, and they're good fun.

The company itself is well-known for its HIV, HBV, and HCV drugs, and more recently a COVID treatment.

Ah... I'm not always this rubbish you know ^^;;

I could probably figure out who they are with a bit of work but I can't guess off-hand - pharma is its own world and I've never really followed the business side of it. It sounds like you enjoy it and that makes it good work. I don't think anyone enjoys goal-setting and PRD season. I'm pretty sure we have behavioural targets here now, all very nebulous and bothersome to fill in.
