Looking up

Mar 02, 2021 17:34

I have literally just finished painting my nails and one of them is chipped. How. WTF.

So we have a 'road map' out of lockdown, hooray! I will get to see a friend for a coffee and walk next week, and I CANNOT WAIT. I love my husband dearly, but I am so ready to spend time in someone else's company for a change.

And at the end of March (so realistically April) I might even get to see my parents and offload all their Christmas presents on them! I've been trying to tidy the spare room, but given a large pile of it is all the Christmas presents we got for friends and family who we've not seen yet, I am really looking forward to giving gifts and reclaiming that carpet next to the sofa.

And AND the Formula 1 starts this month! Huzzah. March 2021 is already a big improvement on March 2020. I am so eager to see how McLaren get on with the Mercedes power-unit, and if the Ferrari upgrade (also in the Haas and Alfa Romeo) is good enough after the utter flop that was last year's Ferrari.

I know this was 2018, not last year, but it will never not be my favourite moment of schadenfreude. (Vettel's Ferrari in the wall at Hockenheim, German GP 2018)

The only stressor at the moment is work - I am so over working from home, because people seem to have no problem booking meetings over your lunch hour, or back to back meetings. I am routinely sat in my office chair for four hours at a go, and if one more US admin books a meeting past 6pm I'm gonna have to throw hands and explain once again that we are in a different timezone. Things are busy, which I don't mind, but there's a lot of pressure on. I was asked to join the I&D team, said yes, only for the head of the Pride ERG to step down and ask me to take the lead, meaning I'm now doing two lots of work on non-work projects with little-to-no guidance (apparently appearing competent means no one ever tells you how to do things. Ahahahaha). And the PMO launches at the end of the month, and it's goal setting time, and, and, and...

And I shouldn't complain, because I have a well-paid job that allows me to work from home in a pandemic, my boss is awesome, and I at least feel appreciated here. So all is well, just busy.

Also, the first crop of foals born at the stud near us have been out frolicking in the fields, and there are few things more adorable than a fluffy winter-coated loaf of bread on stilts trying to run on legs that it doesn't know how to operate. They are SO cute. Alas, we've only managed to find out the pedigree of one of them (another Postponed colt), but we will find the rest of them!
