The Shoe was where the worst of the worst were kept. At least, that was what Peter remembered from the flood of memories from Dr. Magnus. The place in the Sanctuary where they kept the Abnormals that could never be allowed to intergrad with others were kept. The ones that they could hardly let roam free in fear of hurting others. It was the first

Then he was going to move out of the Sanctuary without a word to anyone. After attacking Magnus and hurting Max, he didn't deserve to be in the building.
Peter stopped when he felt a gaze on him. He slowly lifted his eyes up to find Max. There was a slow realization that dawned on his face, then his eyes widened. Normally he'd run up to the glass and ask if she was alright. Except this time he backed away further into the cell. His back hit the back wall and his eyes went away from her.
He didn't deserve her company.

She knew why he was backing away. It made sense - she wouldn't be too eager to be near him if she'd attacked or hurt him, either. But at the same time, it wasn't his fault and she knew that. It was the glitch. The ability, whatever. It wasn't him.
Max just stared at him quietly for a long moment, then spoke up.
"You know, that kinda behavior can really hurt a girl's feelings."

"Previous behavior hurt more than a girl's feelings." Peter said softly.
He knew it was hurting her, and him. Except he was so full of hurt at the moment he couldn't tell if it was more or less than being hurt over what had happened to Nathan. When he thought about it though, he had to shut his eyes to keep from flinching. He had no idea what he did to her, but he could remember how she looked after it. And it broke his heart.
While he was surprised he still had pieces of it to break by this point.

He was aware that someone was watching him. Peter just didn't bother to look over at whoever it was. Max broke his heart enough. He didn't want to turn and see Nathan or Claire there.

Facing Magnus would be hard enough, but having to face her only daughter was even worse. The daughter that almost lost her mother because he couldn't control an ability. Because, he was too weak to control it. He really was pathetic.

"Someone brought Haitian pills." He replied calmly. Peter had no idea who it was that did it, but he had been taking them the last few days. The sedative wore off after awhile. "I'll just use those. Even if it means I won't be special anymore."
What was the point of being special if he couldn't help the people he loved? Hell, he hurt the people he loved, even hurt people he didn't know. He asked to be special to help people. Not destroy them.

What he did know was that he'd done nothing but hate himself the last few days for staying out of the way. He'd been in and out, getting updates and only looking in on Peter when he was sure he was asleep. Every time he'd left feeling worse, feeling like a coward.
But seeing him, for all the good it clearly wasn't going to do his brother, hadn't been an option. Now that it'd been some time, Nathan was hoping he was starting to get better. If only so he could talk to him ( ... )

Peter was on his back, laying in the chair, staring at the ceiling of the cell. He was still trying to come to terms with it all. Claire had talked to him plenty of times, then Sylar visited him... and Max. He sighed and ran his hands down his face. What the hell was he supposed to do? He didn't know.
"You?"

Sure he was.
Nathan's eyes darted around to the cell at large. It looked like something you'd find at Primatech. And he was about as pleased as Peter had to be for the reminder. He wanted him out of here. Now.
"Are they taking care of you here?"

It was too dangerous for him to leave.
