Hello. I guess it's been awhile as usual. Since my last post, my grandmother (mom's side) died. Marion Ella (Aicholtz) Hodges. She died September 21st at about 2am at St Joseph's Hospital. She was 81 (would have been 82 in November). She had been under the weather on and off for a few weeks prior. She had been feeling better and had gone out ( Read more... ) -
I'm still alive
No, I have not disappeared into oblivion. In case anyone wonders what I’ve been up to, here is a somewhat abridged update. The holidays were less than ideal, but in retrospect, they were not so bad. of work and play
I guess it has been awhile. After a minor complication, I got to take my trip to Burlington and spend some time with my bro and friend. We toured a corn maze and went apple picking. Fun times! I'm hoping my next trip will be to Paul Smiths in the very near future. There is talk of going out to lunch with a couple of my ex-professors. I would ( Read more... ) -
Churubusco might as well be Canada
Two months in Ellensburg, WA. Now, two months minutes away from Ellenburg, NY. Huh. Actually, I resdie at the field house in Churubusco, NY, which is so small and near the border that a number of web map tools place it in Canada. New Job
The apprenticeship is over. I had fun and learned a lot. I’m not sure if I will do anything else where the techniques I used will prove useful, but you never know. I’m glad I did it regardless. Just getting there was an adventure.
Now it’s time to move on, though I’m not sure to where exactly. For now it’s to field work. I have a short term ( Read more... ) -
Existential quandry
Recently I have been thinking a lot about consciousness again
I believe it is Descartes’ view point (correct me if I’m wrong) of duality that keeps coming to mind. Cogito ergo sum. The idea that in order to be aware of oneself one must be, in a sense, separate from oneself. There is a disconnect in order for self awareness to occur. When I ( Read more... ) -
Week 7: almost the end!
Wednesday already! Holy Moly! Let’s see if I can remember what I did last week. Data collection wrapped up on all projects. We ended our collection for the art study on Monday (close to a week early) because no one else was signed up to participate. We ended up with 28 subjects and are working on data analysis now.

Washington fun
I got an hour of my shift covered Friday so that I could go and visit Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest in nearby Cle Elum. Besides it being ridiculously hot, it was a pleasant visit.
