I don't know about in England, but breasts get described as 'perky' around here quite often. It's commonly used in regards to women with firm, upthrust bossoms, rather than saggy ones.

That would make sense in this context. I can't say I've ever heard it. I don't know if it's a regionalism or I just haven't been looking in the right (?) places, but I'll add the "separated by a common language" tag.

I'm an Englisher and I've heard breasts referred to as 'perky' before, though I think it might be an Americanism. That aside, WHAT THE FUCK, CHAPTER FIVE PART 2?!?

Definitely an Americanism. Even down in Georgia I've heard that term been used before.

How many times do you reckon the author's going to misuse 'balance' in this fic? And how come he doesn't notice that the sentence means bugger all?

And in Hampshire I know we called breasts 'perky'...

I could cheat and do a text find for the word "balance" in the source files, but I'd rather just keep the ongoing count. Even if I do end up missing one or two that way, but that's not hugely likely because it sticks out like a sore thumb by now.

I'm not actually sure what we called them, or even how I'd express the idea myself. It's never really come up. I'm not convinced it belongs in the viewpoint of an eleven-year-old. Speaking of which, I did a mini-reading of the "expose your private area" line.

The way you said 'area' sounds exactly like Emperor Palpatine. Win!

A Star Trek fansite I used to frequent coined the word 'babblenabbler', meaning someone who invites other characters to spew expository technobabble.

I like this word, and will use it. Expospeak does sometimes have a role to play, but to say I'm not convinced about HE's use of it would be an understatement.

Which, as always (and as noted), the whole rest of the section fails at conveying.

"Completely nonsexual" seems to be becoming a running gag of sorts. I didn't intend this, but I'm finding myself saying it a lot.

Is he saying that out loud to the whole compartment, including the 11-year-old they've just met?

I hate it when characters seem to forget that there's anyone else in the scene and start spouting their innermost feelings, plans for world domination or whatever in public. It's even worse than the FPODD, because whereas that doesn't establish a scene at all, this ignores what's already been established.

Exactly. If you want to show us that nudity has nothing to do with sex in your characters' worldview, then quite simply don't mention sex at all.

It begins. I hate this stupid section. You know, if I had been Kim I think I would have just left and tried to find a teacher to report them. Of course, knowing my luck I would run into someone who thinks that there's nothing wrong like Harry or Hermione or something.

Luckily in that regard, Hermione Apparated back to school and Harry was already there looking after wolf!Ron. No, I don't know why she can Apparate back but they had to take the train down when it wasn't even running either.

We work out every morning. Just recently we learned a charm that makes us look dressed even though we are nude.

"Exposition, exposition, rush it out AS.AP!"

Wait...don't we already fuckin' know this!?

So why the hell are we getting more exposition!?!?!

Beats me. I've touched on this before, but I don't think the author's got much of a short-term memory. It would also explain the continuity problems.
