We used to have an open fire at home that burnt coal and then coke when smokeless feul regulations were broughtin.Once married ,when we lived in Bristol we had an open fire again for a year and 14 acres of woodland in which to gather fallen wood...that was wonderful but I had not seen a wood burning stove until fairly recently on a holiday in France...that was a wonderful experience which I totally enjoyed despite the work involved in getting the wood and cleaning out the ash.

I like a wood burning stove for the simple reason that it heats my entire house and my central unit doesn't come on so I save on my heating bill. I am looking to upgrade by the first of the year so I can get a tax credit- plus I want a more efficient stove.
