I'm the boss in our house, and I have my wife's permission to say so... never asked the kids for theirs!
In the UK if youngsters are not ready to drive on their own they fail the test...gets expensive if they do it repeatedly. Guess I was lucky with our two. H. is exceptionally good and steady and Timbo, once he got over his hesitancy is likewise very steady.
It was wonderful on holiday to be able to allow H to drive and to be able to enjoy the scenery.They were both well out of their teens when they passed their tests.

You don't have to pay to take the test here, just for the license itself, and you can take it as often as you need to just a waiting period in between.
