Children in theaters totally = pedo slash.

Small stupid in ask_me_anything:

tatterdemalion links to an article about how it is disrespectful and a bit morally wrong to bring small chilren to see horror movies (Hostel 2 was the example given and the children were 1 and 4 in the example), and asks who agrees or disagrees. I agree and make a statement that, unless the child has the attention span to sit there for the hr ( Read more... )

My dad used to watch r-18 movies during the night while looking after me. When I was nocturnal.

I still can't close the shower curtain, go to sleep facing a mirror, or close my eyes in the bathroom without getting nervous.

I saw "Poltergeist" around that same age.

Then we moved to a house with a big tree in the front yard.

Yargh.

To this day, I can't sleep with the closet door open even a crack because of that movie.

Oh, but the kiddies won't remember! Yeah, right.

I totally agree with you. I would never take my kids to see Hostel. There are images in that movie that disturbs me and I love horror movies.

But as far as taking young kids to movies,it is the parent's job to remove the kids when they won't sit still. We had to leave TMNT for that reason, but the kids stayed still and watched Spiderman 3. Just depends on the kid.

I would never take ANYONE to see hostel. That would be worse than asking them to follow me to Hell and eat some glass.

Man that movie was bad.

I liked the ending, where the guy caught the Dutchman in the bathroom. That was awesome, but that was the only part I really liked.

As a horror movie fan, It has been a long time sense I have seen a good one.

no kids should be allowed to watch horror movies like hostel, those parents need to find a sitter, go to a theater with a daycare (yes they do exist), or wait to rent it. i never let my kids watch things like that, which is why my netflix queue is so loooooooooooong.

When I went to see Silent Hill there was someone who brought their daughter, she couldn't have been more than 7. Not only was it a late showing but for a child it had to be seriously disturbing. I think she was crying towards the middle.

what the hell. thats just selfish. i just now decided my daughter could watch some of the older and less scary horror type movies, she is 10. really, she has only seen The Lost Boys and Dracula. i watch scary movies after my kids are in bed. i remember watching Psycho when i was 9, ever since then i lock the door when i take a shower.

Yeah I mean there's just some stuff that's clearly inappropriate. I mean no parent is perfect but hell I wouldn't take my kid to an R movie meant to be scary to adults.

Do you not agree with pedo fic or just with regular slash? Because slash is just romatic fanfiction involving people of the same gender.

But other than that, yes, major stupid. People shouldn't be allowed to drag icons into arguments, it just gets ridiculous. You should have said, "What, it's not okay to write pedo fic, but it is okay for giant creepy kings to fuck people in the butt?" Zing!

I don't agree with pedo fic, period, whether it be slash or not. Slash I'm not a fan of, personally, because a lot of the time it's between straight characters who, in canon, show no signs of being attracted to the same sex, and I'm of the mindset that, if you're going to write using someone else's characters, then you should write them as the creator or writers on the show are writing them. There (most likely) will never be an episode of House where House and Wilson go at it, for example. They've been shown to be extremely good friends and Wilson obviously cares for House a lot in order to put up with him, but they're not romantically interested in each other. So why show them as such? I just don't understand the point in it, so I'm not really a fan ( ... )

I think the very fact that there will probably never be an episode where House and Wilson get it on is the very reason that people write stories in which they do: so we can read about what we wish would happen on the show. It's just a bit of harmless fantasy.

I was only getting sandy about it because I wouldn't want someone to equate slash, which is juat a gay relationship, to pedo fic, which I hope we can agree is something else. You are, of course, free to dislike slash all you want. I just hope you don't dislike it for the same reason you dislike pedo fic.

And I totally would have stooped to that level. I would have stooped and then lost my balanced and toppled all over that level for the sake of the lulz.
