It crosses my mind that I want to read Tennyson's "The Marriage of Geraint" and "Geraint and Enid" from Idylls of the King.  It's not on my shelf.  I google it, and read away.

My current home desktop image is Natalie and Nick in the morgue in the "Only the Lonely" flashbacks, meeting for the first time.  My current work desktop image is a shot of Toronto from the water at dawn.  What are yours?

The DSL is now working.  (They had typo'd the address on their router.)  I can now be on the phone and online at the same time, and download Microsoft updates in less than an ice age, just like a normal person. ;-)

Well, that's the third evening spent attempting to install DSL.  I suspect I received a dud modem.  I will phone Customer Support on Saturday morning (the only time I can be at this machine during their business hours).

Do any of you know the parameter code to force a PDF, when linked from an HTML file, to open in the browser viewer instead of separately in the Acrobat application?  I have a set of files (an HTML menu and a folder of PDF books) that worked exactly as wanted until I burned them to CD, but now that they're on CD, all the linked files insist on ( Read more... )

Since LJ has, effective this evening, most bewilderingly turned off the ability to select text in text-entry fields, I composed this post in Eudora and pasted it into LJ, as I suppose I will have to do with all posts and responses from now on.  I frequently rearrange text by selecting, copying, cutting and pasting after initial composition.  I ( Read more... )

One of the itty-bitty, teeny-tiny, ongoing annoyances of Windows XP is that the smooth 3D appearance of the windows and toolbars is limited to just three color schemes: blue, silver, green.  I don't like the blue or the silver, so I'm stuck with green, unless I revert to the 2D "Windows Classic" appearance.  Green is great for work, but at home, ( Read more... )

There's a generally accepted opinion that sans-serif fonts are easier to read on screen, and serif fonts on paper.  My fansite's been in Garamond (serif) for years, because I like the look and think it harmonizes with the story in question, but if it's too hard for people to read, it's not doing any good.  I'm willing to switch to sans-serif, if ( Read more... )
