An endnote in a history text mentions a 1904 commemorative pamphlet on the fiftieth anniversary of the Working Men's College in London.  I Google the title, date and author, and am immediately presented with a scanned copy of the original.  I save it as a PDF, transfer it to my Kindle, and go out on the balcony to read it ( Read more... )

If you're running Windows XP and the latest ZoneAlarm, do not install the most recent Windows updates until after installing this ZoneAlarm update/patch, or you will lose Internet access.

I just caught up on that fifth episode of New Amsterdam, and while it deserves an in-depth analysis, I'm going to rattle off just these bullet points:

I just learned something very important.  If you future-date something on LJ, it never shows up on Friends Lists!  None of you saw this post, did you?  It's not on your Friends Lists.  I just checked five of them.

I've had a longstanding habit of future-dating things by a minute or two.  Oops.

This post tests the future-dating function.  I am loading it at 1:20 PM Pacific Time, but dating it for 2:00 PM Pacific Time.  I'll look at some of your Friends Lists to see that it is not visible until 2:00, but that it does pop up and become visible at 2:00 ( Read more... )
