No More Selecting with the Mouse?

Since LJ has, effective this evening, most bewilderingly turned off the ability to select text in text-entry fields, I composed this post in Eudora and pasted it into LJ, as I suppose I will have to do with all posts and responses from now on.  I frequently rearrange text by selecting, copying, cutting and pasting after initial composition.  I would have thought most people did.

Does anyone know what is up with this new anti-feature?
