To that anonymous reviewer on ff.net re: Awareness7: Chuck has always treated Nate like he did there. Yes, he's his best friend and he wouldn't ever cross the line into insulting him, but he taunted him and thought he was a bit of a ditz in this chapter (everyone knows arranged marriages aren't so far off the beaten path especially in the upper

On ne peut pas satisfaire tout le monde. Du moment que toi, tu penses être honnête par rapport au personnages, c'est le principal.

Also one of my favorite things- your fic. You're an excellent writer and a wonderful friend. Do we always agree? No. Do you always do a fair job and an excellent job?
YES.
Don't let it get you down. I get people flaming me all the time. I write fic for couples I don't ship. (Harry/Hermione? You know I've always been an R/Hr girl!) But that doesn't mean that I allow my personal opions to color the characters action.
And neither do you.

How's everything apart from anon reviewers?

lol jk. This is really strange. Actually, I haven't gotten flamed ever (except this one comment, in which they strongly disapproved of a relationship I wrote with a huge age difference and was sadly going to stop reading as a result, to which I said "sayonara") and I found that ff.net is generally more drama-free than lj. I think it's because everything I write is like CHUCK AND BLAIR YAY LOVE EACH OTHER YAY -- and no one criticizes that because it's what they want. Hmm.
But anyway, Nate is lolz and it's totally okay to not think that he is the beacon of manhood. He is so pretty because Chace is, but... Chace doesn't know how to act. Do you remember that ridiculous Audrey dream sequence, where he was supposed to act snooty with a snobby version of Blair? That was so much lolz and bad -- but he's so cute so we forgive him anyway.
Character-wise, he is just a flaky teenage boy to me, the kind that doesn't know what they want and goes back and forth -- and break girls' hearts.

Gah, you're lucky. This is as bad as it ever got for me. To which the flamer responded with this little gem: "Technically it is not even a flame. It is a standard review that I give to any story containing "OC" in the summary. So no, I did not even bother to read your story." Some people just need to be put back in their place, don't they.
Beacon of manhood? *chokes on laughter* And yes he was passably snooty but like, not convincingly so.
He does it all unconsciously! But yeah flaky doesn't warrant my hate. Far from it. If he were played with dimension and more gusto (as per Ed's Chuck) I would absolutely, 100%, give him all my love. Oh, and if the writers didn't make him out to be some borderline psycho and full-time whore *nods* Because honestly, right now he doesn't get my compassion for his boohoo I'm a rich brat whining.

Okay, right, so OCs are no-no's and we should jump off cliffs before we write them. Got it.
FUCK. OFF.
Don't let that shit get to you. I think I'm only lucky because I don't challenge people like you do. And that's not a particularly good thing, believe me. Grr.
re: Nate. lol I feel like if he was played better, he'd be way more likable. But since he is not, he can be pretty annoying at times. But he's so cute, no? The writers shit all over the good thing, and to emerge from all the shit and still be awesome -- you need to be as awesome as Leighton, or Ed. Chace unfortunately doesn't most of the time and gets by with his prettiness. Not that I'm personally complaining, because pretty is fine with me. :P

Oh pish. Hello sunscreen of perverted pleasure lol.
Word. Pretty is fine, but I much prefer substance with mah pretty. My definition of hot is not most people's anyway!

I wrote a fic a week ago or so and the same thing happened to me, but the reason I got flames was because I kind of wrote something from Chuck's POV and insulted Blair in it. Oh well. You can't please everyone.

Whenever you challenge someone's perception these things happen. It's not the first time I've had crit, but like I said, if you say the fic is good and then bash the fact that I keep my character IC, then what's the point you know?
