Justin had some time before the party with Ernie and the Hufflepuffs. He was a little hestitant about the whole thing, not sure if Susan would show up or not. All in all, he was quite apprehensive about seeing her again- a tiny part of him wanted to know how she was, to make sure she was okay, but she had really hurt him. And the pain in his leg had flared up earlier, but was now a dull throbbing along the shin. He hoped to walk it off, so there he was, once again wandering the streets of Stoatshead.

It kept raining, but never for very long, and not all that hard, so he had his hood pulled up over his head, figuring he could always charm himself dry later if he needed to. His eyes were on the ground when he moved to step over a puddle, brushing shoulders with another body. "Sorry," he said, pausing in his tracks. He looked down, an apologetic smile on his face.

Lavender laughed, looking up at the wizard who had bumped into her. "That's okay," she said with a smile. "I wasn't exactly looking where I was going."

She tucked her hair behind her ear, really not minding at all. All she could think as she looked up at him was that she seemed to be having very good luck recently when it came to running into handsome wizards. As shallow as that sounded, it really wasn't anything to complain about.

Justin couldn't help the smile growing on his face and he nodded. "I'm Justin. Justin Finch-Fletchley," he said, offering his hand. She looked vaguely familiar- oh! "Lavender, isn't it?"

"Yes! Lavender Brown." Lavender grinned. "Of course! We were at Hogwarts together." She took his hand, shaking it. He'd been what? A Hufflepuff? Yes, that was right.

"Wow. Everyone really does seem to be moving to Stoatshead. I keep running into people from school all over the place!"

"Around," Justin replied. "Stayed in the UK, but I just kept going. I couldn't seem to find any place that held my interest- I didn't have anything to keep me anywhere." He shrugged.

"A house sounds nice," he said. "Something you can really make into a home... Moreso than a flat, at least."

Lavender nodded. "Yeah. That was what I was thinking. Somewhere a little more homely and maybe with a garden. I don't know. I might try and get somewhere a little closer to the hospital."

Their order was brought over to their table and Lavender murmured her thanks. "So are you doing anything interesting later?" She frowned. "Sorry. I'm being nosy. Don't mind me."

"Dinner reunion with some Hufflepuffs. After that, nothing as far as I know," Justin replied. "And you're fine, I promise." He smiled and reached for some sugar for his tea.

"How about yourself? Anything interesting?"

Lavender carefully poured out her tea, trying not to spill or splash the hot liquid. She added a little milk to her cup, stirring it gently. "Oh, I expect I'll wander home again and perhaps do a little more reading." Lavender sipped her tea, deciding it was fine without sugar. "I've decided to start training as a midwife and, unfortunately, that means more studying."

She wrinkled her nose with a half-laugh. "I've never really been one for a long attention span so this is a nice little study break."

"Sounds like as good a reason as any to me," he commented with a smile. "I think everybody should be able to do what they want to. And you're lucky if you're able to figure out what you want with your life..."

"Yeah. It's what I want to do for now, at any rate." Lavender smiled and sipped her tea. "Who know? Maybe in a couple of years I'll want to take some time off and start my own family or whatever." Of course, I would need some sort of relationship to do that...

She smiled at Justin. "I wouldn't worry about not knowing what you want to do right now."

"I'm trying not to," he replied, dipping his biscuit in his tea and biting into it. "And I don't imagine you're the only one wanting to start a family," he added. At least, he was hoping that someday... Well, perhaps now wasn't the time to dwell on that. "Especially with the end of the war and all."

"Exactly. Which, I suppose, is another good reason to be a midwife. People settling down and all that."

Lavender poured a little more tea into her cup. "Anyway, I don't have anyone to settle down with at the moment." She shrugged. "So I don't think that's going to be happening any time soon."
