"Sounds like as good a reason as any to me," he commented with a smile. "I think everybody should be able to do what they want to. And you're lucky if you're able to figure out what you want with your life..."

"Yeah. It's what I want to do for now, at any rate." Lavender smiled and sipped her tea. "Who know? Maybe in a couple of years I'll want to take some time off and start my own family or whatever." Of course, I would need some sort of relationship to do that...

She smiled at Justin. "I wouldn't worry about not knowing what you want to do right now."

"I'm trying not to," he replied, dipping his biscuit in his tea and biting into it. "And I don't imagine you're the only one wanting to start a family," he added. At least, he was hoping that someday... Well, perhaps now wasn't the time to dwell on that. "Especially with the end of the war and all."

"Exactly. Which, I suppose, is another good reason to be a midwife. People settling down and all that."

Lavender poured a little more tea into her cup. "Anyway, I don't have anyone to settle down with at the moment." She shrugged. "So I don't think that's going to be happening any time soon."

"That's surprising," he started, "I mean. You're pretty and all, and you seem quite nice..."

Then he realized what he said and blushed, suddenly finding his tea very interesting. He didn't take it back, though, because he had meant it. He just...felt a little silly saying it out loud.

Lavender blushed, not sure where to look or what to say when Justin said she was pretty. She took a nervous sip of tea and finally said, "Thank you. That's... very sweet of you to say so."

It was an awkward, slightly embarrassing, moment that reminded her a little of seeing Ron the other day.

"I, um, you're welcome." Justin quickly finished off his tea. "I should..I should probably go. I've bothered you enough for today." He reached for his wallet to pay for their things.

"Here, let me just add my half in," Lavender offered, reaching for her handbag, knowing that she had a few coins on her.

She smiled warmly at Justin. "You haven't bothered me in the slightest," she assured him. "I've really enjoyed talking you, actually."

"My treat," Justin insisted, reaching across the table to place a hand on her wrist to stop her. "Really. I don't mind."

He returned her smile. "I've enjoyed talking to you, too." Even if he did somehow manage to make a fool of himself. "Maybe... Um. Maybe we could get together again sometimes?"

Lavender blushed. "Oh, thank you." It was sweet of Justin to offer and Lavender knew she should have been more empowered or whatever and insisted that she paid her half, but there was a rather large part of her that liked that sort of treatment.

She bit her lip. "Yeah, I'd like that," she agreed. "That would be really nice. Like I said, um, I live in Copper Towers, so if you ever want to owl or something...? Well, y'know." She grinned, a blush still colouring her cheeks.
