Going Postal: yummy Victorian fashions, magic, and Science!

We just received our DVDs of Terry Pratchett's Going Postal yesterday. It's a very lovely adaptation of the book with lots of nice brassy gizmology in the Clacks machines (semaphore machines used like the telegraph system) and Victorian-inspired costuming throughout - frock coat suits, bustled dresses, etc, with lots of care to make things look ( Read more... )

I'm a little disappointed in the extremely identical golems, to be honest. In my mind's eye every single one looked unique from the others... age, patchwork repairs, pragmatic self-repair (golem that needs its right arm more will repair it up bigger/stronger than its left for instance).

I've yet to see the movie itself completely, but I just finished the book and I'm very curious nonetheless.
