Quite nice!
But the hat needs a little more bling, maybe a brooch or a flower or feather...something wacky from the thrift store or something you pulled together yourself out of your broken bits of this and that.

I was thinking that too. I can't wait to go to the thrift store this weekend to look at some old clocks and see if I could tear them apart for shiny gears and stuff!

Clock springs- the big swirly metallic thingies are the hot new accessory detail. ^_^
I am looking at incorporating that into my hat as well!

Thanks, this Polyvore thing is pretty neat and was lots of fun to play with.

I will say that the hat looks more early 20th Century than anything Victorian. Think roaring 20's rather than Victoriana.

That being said, this is Steampunk and has a lot of leeway, so you can go however you want to.

If you want cheap hats, look into straw hats that are available and then decorate them. Boaters, Pith Helmets and even sun hats can all be found out of straw and fit the "period" more.

Although I am having a devil of a time finding a pith helmet myself!

Me too, I was trying to add some color, but also have some basics I could split up and reuse.

That is super cute! I have two suggestions:

1) The skirt would look better with a petticoat. I'm sure that thrift stores would have a bridal petticoat, or an old prom dress waiting to be taken apart.

2) I also love the blouse's color, and frankly, I want more! I think I've seen shoes similar to those in a red like the blouse. Or the parasol or gloves would be a nice place to have a bit of color.

Great going so far. :)

Thank you for the petticoat idea. I didn't think about that!
