I'm homeeeeee!
Sinces today's events are fresh in my mind, I thought I'd write about my EP experience before I forget any details.
So, I arrived at that hospital pretty early in the morning. I went to registration and around 8 or 9 am, I was brought into the ambulatory cath unit where I had to change into a gown and get an IV inserted. A little before noon, I was ( Read more... ) -
Color Me Impressed
The electrophysiologist I saw at the hospital today is interesting. In addition to his MD, he has Master's degrees in Comp Sci and Electrical Engineering from MIT, a prestigious school that only takes the best of the best. He also has a PhD in biophysics.
Since the loop recorder has been implanted, I have had three episodes of a heart rate of 190 ( Read more... ) -
Some things....
1) I got a call from my doctor saying he wants me to go to a well renowned heart hospital in the area and see the electrophysiologist there. I know I saw one in the hospital but all he did was implant the loop recorder. So, I've had the thing for less than a month and I guess it's showing some stuff. My appointment is Friday.

I'm finally home
I went home late today. I thought I was getting out early but a couple of things happened. First, my IV line started burning every time it was flushed. Then it started burning anytime there was something going through the line. I had to ice the area every time it was in use and eventually I asked the nurse to remove it. I'm responding very well to IV antibiotics (ampicillin & sulbactam) and my neck looks so much better. I did have an incident this morning where while I was sleeping, my heart decided to skip 20 beats in a row and apparently, I have no recollection of a nurse coming in to check if I was alright, this is what I was told after I woke up. Holed Up
I'm in the hospital for a little while due to a nasty skin infection that did not get any better on oral antibiotics. I developed a fever and thought it would be best to go to the ER. I got admitted, had one round of vancomycin, found out I was allergic, and then switched to another kind of IV antibiotic called Unisyn. I've gotten maybe 6 bags of ( Read more... ) -
11 month well check up
I couldn't go to Oliver's well visit today as it was at the same time as my driving lesson.
Oliver is 27 inches long (.5 percentile)
He is 17.12 lbs (3.9 percentile)
For whatever reason, the doctor is not happy with Oliver's weight gain. Right now, Oliver has 24 oz of formula a day, 8 oz of baby food, 20 grams of rice cereal, baby snacks through the ( Read more... ) -
The Day I Saved My Son
After feeding Oliver his morning bottle today, I put him on the bedroom floor to play while I got something to drink.
When I came back, I heard him coughing and gagging. I figured he had put something in his mouth, but I didn't know what. I stuck my finger in his mouth to see if anything was lodged, but I couldn't feel anything.
