You know, I just thought of someone who made a return to the show and didn't die for it - Rufus. Oh crap, I've probably jinxed him now, haven't I?
YOU AREN'T THE ONLY ONE WHO WAS OFFENDED A BIT BY THE PORTRAYAL OF THE ANCIENT GODS. I said something to the same effect back at the discussion post, but someone else responded to me saying that the show has shown that gods only have as much power as they have believers. So I'm trying to go with that explanation myself because I was honestly put off by how quick these "gods" went down.Seriously, the more and more I think about it and see other people's reactions and look up stuff on Wikipedia, the more annoyed I get about the show portrayed the gods. The belief=power thing would be a decent explanation for what happened...except that Kali and Ganesh are both part of the Hinduism, one of the major world religions, and Baron Samedi is a part of Hoodoo, which is also a currently practiced religion. Ganesh

My personal canon is that supernatural creatures (angels/demons/monsters/etc.) get a completely different section of the afterlife, separate from everything and everyone else and where they're stripped of whatever powers they had while they were alive. That sounds suspiciously like you've been looking inside MY head. :D

I think im the only one not mad about Gabriel's fate. He did what he tought was right. He spent millenia running from his family, but at the end he knew he had to do something, to save the world he had come to love (in very special and sexy ways :D

This sentence just makes me LOL. XD Yes, Gabriel's love for humanity is very special and sexy indeed.
And its herte were he his better than brainless Dean, who doesnt even think in killing his dear Sam for THE SAKE OF THE WORLD! Gabriel knew that his family issues weren't as important as the FATE OF THE FREAKING WORLD!Well, in fairness to Dean, he had a lot of conditioning from John about putting Sam's safety before anything else; plus, Sam's kind of a victim in all of this, too, and isn't actively trying to destroy the world the way Lucifer is. If Sam was doing the stuff that Lucy's doing, I think that eventually Dean would what Gabriel did and face down his brother

...okay, while I get why Dean is giving that highly insulting speech to the gods who eat people and I know that this has never been the most PC of shows...I don't know. Just the scene where he's referring to the gods of other countries' religions, many of whom are being played by people of color, as chimps...I squirmed a bit. Like I said, maybe I'm just being oversensitive, but still, it made me a little uncomfortable. Thoughts?Dean is a dick. Period. But, on a serious note just the over all touch on religions like that with so much brutality done by an angel (technically a servant) as Lucifer was... insane symbolism that it unnerved me to no end. It doesn't make any sense why a lesser being (greater than humans but less than gods) have that much power. Kinda BS
