Upon the buffet table, if you are still hungry of course are many different varieties of food, mainly based of the different worlds that have been seen. There is also a lovely selection of drinks, both alcoholic and not, as well as a rather large selection of tea and fruit tea.
Chairs have been places close to the area for people who want to sit down and eat.
The small brown mouse carefully climbed up the tablecloth to the top of the buffet table. There were so many unusual foods here! She moved cautiously between the platters of food timidly wondering if she also might be allowed to have something. Usually humans reacted… poorly… when they noticed there was a mouse around so Mrs. Brisby was prepared to run if that situation presented itself.
Mjrn herself was not hungry, though she headed over to the buffet table regardless. At least having a drink to hold would give her something to do with her hands. She picked up a glass of fruit tea, regarding it curiously, when something at the corner of her vision moved. Turning her head, she stifled a soft gasp. "A...mouse?" She had seen them before, yet none that wore clothing....
A gasp like that was usually followed by screaming and occasionally even the bristles of a broom coming down from above so Mrs. Brisby was quick to draw away from the plate of cookies she had found and face the one who had noticed her.
“He-- hello.” Her voice trembled just a little before she reminded herself that most humans here could actually understand her. “I hope it isn’t any trouble that I am here.”
Mjrn stared downward with wide eyes, likewise not human in appearance though having the advantage of being close to them in size. "Ah--no, not at all. I apologize; I did not realize you could speak. Your kind cannot, in my world."
“The humans,” And even if she didn’t really look like one it was the closet term Mrs. Brisby could think of to call her, “in my world can’t understand mice at all either.”
She actually looks pretty apologetic as well, “I am sorry if I startled you.”
"You did not, overmuch. I apologize for startling you, as well." Mjrn pauses, then decides why not. Talking with the mouse is socializing, right? "My name is Mjrn. I am a Viera, from Ivalice."
Talking to mice or the furniture in Beast’s Castle totally counts as socializing!
“I am Mrs. Brisby, from…” Well, she didn’t have a nice title for it but, “From the garden near the stone.” The little field mouse had lived in that field for as long as she could remember.
“No, I have only been away from my home for a little.” Nearly a month give or take. “I just arrived at this castle… I accidentally found out how a gummi ship worked.” Such a harrowing tale of dodging feet and finding herself on a ship that suddenly flew here to Beast’s Castle. “Do you live here?”
"No, I do not. I arrived in Traverse Town scarcely three days ago. I have not yet thought to live elsewhere, for I have seen very little." Mjrn glanced around thoughtfully. "This is an interesting location, however. I have never seen anything approaching these surroundings."
Mrs. Brisby gingerly inched herself closer to Mjrn and the edge of the table so she could see around the plates of food piled much taller than she was.
“It is very nice here.” Oh! Look at that! Transfixed for a while she watched the people there on the dance floor twirling in time to the music. “That looks like fun… Can you do that?”
Glancing over, Mjrn watched for a moment in silent before shaking her head. "I do not know the steps for such dances, nor am I certain I could manage in such attire." Unused to long dresses as she was, Mjrn had a feeling that all she would accomplish on the dance floor would be tripping over herself. "I do not mind observing, however."
“It…” Mrs. Brisby watched the movements of the dancers very carefully, “…doesn’t look too hard.” She decided before standing up on her toes and trying to follow along. Slow at first, some times missing a step, but in not too long she was following along with the simple dance fairly well.
Watching Mrs. Brisby attempt to follow along finally brought out that smile. "You seem to possess some talent." If only she could say the same...but Mjrn's still too nervous to try on her own. At least the mouse has the luxury of being overlooked.
Mrs. Brisby ends her little dance in order to offer some encouragement, “Oh, no, I have never tried to dance before. It is just that the steps are so easy. I know you could learn to do it too.” She takes the time to demonstrate the opening move, which is basically just stepping to the right, then to the left and back again. “It really is easy, you should give it a try.”
