The Show - Supernatural is awesome, end of discussion. No in all seriousness there are few shows that captivate me, the was SPN does. The monster of the week, the overall arcs, the relationship between Sam and Dean, the introduction of the angels!!! Every time I think this show can't get more awesome. It proves me wrong. It is well written with amazing characters that I love and overall to me is easily the best thing on TV at the moment.
The Boys - Yes I am shallow, yes I freely admit that :) Jensen and Jared and more recently Misha are a big part of why I love this fandom. They're gorgeous, they're funny, they're engaging. I look out for con vids with the beady eyes of a hawk and re-watch them over and over again. Why do I love them? well yes it is partly cos they are easy on the eye, look at my icon for crying out loud, how could you not drool stupidly over love that. But it is also cos they love my show. What made me a fan? I watched Mystery Spot. OMG YES. I'd watched the first season and while I didn't entirely hate it, I wasn't really swept off my feet either.
And then I randomly decided to watch Mystery Spot and OMG OMG. It is -and I suspect it will be for a very long time- my favourite episode of anything EVER.
That episode truly is a work of art - and everything that's good about the show is in there: the brotherly love, the chemistry between characters, the humour, the drama, brilliant writing, a good villain and great music. ♥
Congratulations! I never lost my muse despite all the wank and stuff going on, but now I am totally inspired to write even MORE J2-love fics. Thank you! :)
I'm not a particularly social dude, and LiveJournal isn't my medium of choice for meeting new people; until I became active in SPN fandom I'd never "made friends" with someone via LiveJournal, just kept track of people I already knew in person or from usenet or what have you. Thanks to my involvement in the fandom, though, I've recently had some really engaging conversations with cool people, and started following the journals of a few people who, while essentially total strangers to me, are interesting and thoughtful -- in one case, someone whose work in another fandom I had admired for years and who I would otherwise have been too shy to approach. So, that's awesome.
(Also, I've completely missed all the wank. Obliviousness and overwork do right by me once again.)
... also, and I would be In The Trouble if she knew I had forgotten (well, no, I probably wouldn't; but there would be jokes about how I was In The Trouble), my girlfriend might not now be my girlfriend if we hadn't bonded so quickly over Supernatural. And I may have wooed her a bit with gay porn, which is not something many men can say.
All kinds of writers and interpreters of canon are accepted. You want to write gen? SURE, there's a comm for that. Wincest? There is a comm for that. J2, etc etc etc... It's great
Why do I love Supernatural? Good question - I love it for the storylines, particularly the most current ones in Season 4 regarding the apocalypse, and the whole demons VS angels mytharc. I love how well written, well directed, well acted the show is, and to have such attractive actors helps also. I am a particular fan of Misha Collins. I absolutely love love LOVE both Misha and Castiel. I mean how can you turn down such adorable puppy eyes and teh confused head tilt of doom as displayed here -
