Shige Essay n.45 - Tests -

I translated Shige's essay of the last Myojo.
Shige is my ichiban so I tried very hard to do it the better I can and to make it clearer as possible.
If you notice some mistakes (some phrases were really long, I know exactly what he meant...but in Italian XD Putting it in English was chaotic ^^'')

By the way, for the few of you who are interested, here it is Shige's Essay.

Kato Shigeaki's essay - Tests

Sometimes, I think that sayings and idiomatic phrases just hit the mark. I wouldn't take it as my motto but there's one of them that I especially like: "Haste makes waste".
Because in reality it happens so many times to make waste by haste. For example, when you pile up many useless expenses because you had no time to prepare a good schedule for your travels, or when you buy some clothes that you'll never wear because you couldn't think about it properly due to imminent work. There are many things that wouldn't fail if you just spend time on it without rushing.
Careful considerations are for sure the keys for right judgments. Well, there is also the saying "The goodness is sudden" though.

Then, "You can become good in the things you like" too is a saying that knows well the reality. Exactly, I believe that you can improve for sure on the things you like. You can say that you become good at them because you love them, and maybe, as you get better you like them more and more. Whatever the case is, this saying express all this with a positive rhythm.
Maybe I should explain the reasons of "You can become good in the things you like". It's because you won't think of your efforts as efforts. No matter how much you study or train, the things you love won't be tiring. At the contrary, if you do something you hate even for a little time, it will be painful for sure. Then, you don't go on with it.
Everyone has a different potential on matters, if the efforts aren't too heavy, there you should improve more and more. Thinking about it, it's natural that it's better to devote yourself to the things you like than to conquer the things in which you're not good.

[Those last lines are very messed up... T_T ]

I'll say why I did such a long introduction, it's because there are many people who in this happy season of the new year aren't happy at all. At the beginning of the year, there are students who hold back from the "Entrance exams", an important event that can change your life. In reality I received this request from many people: "I want you to write in your serial about the study for the entrance examinations". But I experienced those exams relatively soon as a student of the 6th year of junior school and in my life I did them only one time. The reason why they asked such a singular person like me to write about them is a mystery but I thought to answer the same, if it's ok with such a powerless speech about my past experiences.

That is to say. To pass the entrance exams you have to study remembering carefully that "Haste makes waste", then keep in mind: "You can become good in the things you like", so it's important to being able to love to study. I'm sorry for saying those things in those late days but the exams must be prepared in time. Such things as an easy way to pass them don't exist. But maybe there is a way to make it easier. That is: "You can become good in the things you like". If you just like a little studying you'll be able to study a lot, deeply without any worry. Doing like this will make you move in the good direction. When I was in the junior school I never thought about what I liked or not and I just wasted time on my table, but during high school and university I grew up. I made clear what I wanted to do and what not. Maybe we're not so flexible but we must be able to use mind-control and begin to want to do even the things we hate, doing this anything will be difficult.
This is not limited only to exams.

I'll say more, if no matter how hard you try you just can't love studying I think you can renounce to exams.
In the case that you can do the things you like, you should just take hold of yourself. The world is not so sweet but, if you can do the things you love, even if little, a lively energy will spring up. It's not the academic background that shapes yourself. Because it's the result of the things that came from your own self that should become your own background.
Entering a good school won't make you a good human being.

...I ended to do such a passionate speech but please, don't rely on my advices. Because, for example, I wrote this essay in hot haste in the proximity of the deadline. Because perhaps, "Haste makes waste" is really true...
