I was working on a writing meme and they posed the question:

Do you use established canon characters or do you create OCs?

leethet though it deserved more attention, so I am asking it here as well.

How do you feel about OCs? Do you think that they are merely MarySue/Stus and should be shunned? What qualities do you think an OC should have?

A few years ago, eight or thereabout, I became totally besotted with ABBA after seeing the ABBA-tribute band, Waterloo, performed. Little did I know that a few months later, we would be recruited to work for the band and get to see many, many performances. Then we saw Mamma Mia and something just clicked.
