Wow, taking a moment...
A few years ago, eight or thereabout, I became totally besotted with ABBA after seeing the ABBA-tribute band, Waterloo, performed. Little did I know that a few months later, we would be recruited to work for the band and get to see many, many performances. Then we saw Mamma Mia and something just clicked.
I was so inspired that I wrote my first slash fic, a one-shot called Does Your Mother Know You're Out?. That has inspired three series, The Foothills Series (95 works from four different authors), The Tasteful Adventures of Illya and Matt, and Heaven and Hell.
All because of ABBA and I decided I would do one Foothills fic for each of ABBA's song titles. I'm now down to four titles: Elaine, Happy Hawaii, Me And Bobby And Bobby's Brother, and Nina, Pretty Ballerina.
So an invitation to anyone fond of the Foothills - do you have a suggestion, possibly loosely associated with one of those four remaining titles that you would like to see me tackle? I can't promise anything, but I did want to sort of throw this out there.
Today also marks our first full dress rehearsal. Today we have everything - props, costumes, lights, sounds and a live band. Today weeks of hard work and planning all coalesce into a production. We will be there most of the day, just standing by in case something needs to be changed, repaired, etc. It's both sad because this really signifies the end of the ride. At the same time, we take our place as the first non-profit theatre to be given the privilege of presenting Mamma Mia. We open on Wednesday for the start of 18 performances. When I left on Thursday we were at 70% of capacity for the entire run. That's 5400 seats nearly full before we even open.
Just gotta say, what a freaking ride it's been. :D
