Lavi stared out the library window watching the fog thicken and churn. He had turned off his device earlier annoyed with his current predicament. China seemed intent on stopping Ping from reaching him and quite frankly Lavi didn't blame him. Still it was a hindrance to the redhead if he had to walk back to the apartments without those glasses. Tapping his fingers on one of the tables he let out a heavy sigh.

Screw this, he thought. Lavi stood up and moved for the library doors. With his fine memory he was pretty sure he knew the way back to the apartments even with the thickness of the fog hindering his vision. He'd just have to move carefully and hope whatever was out there wasn't too much for him to handle.

Before leaving the building entirely he pulled down his headband and pressed it over his mouth and nose. If it helped keep him from fainting then it would. If not then nothing would be lost by doing it. So with stupid determination he stepped out into the fog, relying on his memory to map his way back to the apartments.

[Thick the fog might be, but Ping had his glasses so it was as if there was nothing there. He lowered them a little. If he didn't have them he wouldn't be able to maneuver in this at all, and it would have been a huge detriment to his travels. Soon Shibusen came into view, as did the figure of Lavi and he stopped immediately. Lavi would probably have trouble seeing in this, and he didn't want to startle him with his footsteps.

There was still some distance between them, perhaps ten or so yards, so he raised his voice and hailed him]

Lavi!

[He hears him call out his name and stops. Well this just became far easier.]

Ping? Where are you?

[Good! He didn't get startled]

Wait where you are, I'm coming to you, okay?

[With that Ping once more picks up his pace, jogging steadily towards Lavi till he is a couple feet away.]

Right in front of you [reaches out a hand an inch from him] See me? [rummaging to get out monocle]

[What? Did he just grab a child?

Well. There goes any brownie points Lavi may have gotten for suggesting a sensible course of action.]

What are you doing? [in his best commanding-the-soldiers voice]

[China nearly tripped over his own feet, stopping in time to not run into-- that was a child.]

What the hell do you--

[immediately turning and beginning to follow, of course. he hadn't seen much of the kid, but Lavi's face hadn't made him trust the other with it. the only reason he didn't completely dash off was Shang's voice.]

- Come on! You saw what he just did, yes?

[Ping thought that the other two were giving Lavi way to hard a time. Especially considering the primary reason both China and Shang seemed to be angry at the red-head was because of what he had done, Ping felt their anger would be much better directed at himself.

...but in this one instance, yes, even Ping was a little confused. Still he was willing to give Lavi the benefit of doubt, there had to be a reason for this, and he didn't hesitate for a second in go after him]

Lavi! What are you doing?

[Okay...crazy people everywhere now. Mushu just hangs onto Ping's shirt, trying to peer into the fog. It was hard to be look out when he couldn't see past his whiskers!]

Mind tellin' me what just happened?! Or is your friend always grabbin' at random strangers?

[Ping felt strange. It was strange to witness someone's innermost emotions. Raw, honest, unhithered. Moreso we so many of the things spoken seemed to resonate with his own concerns. After seeing all that he couldn't help but feel even more curious about Lavi, empathetic to him, and well--defensive. He wasn't sure if the opinions of sheng and Shang had changed at all, but quite frankly he was bothered by the way they had treated Lavi from the beginning and he would come to the others aid of need be ( ... )

[Mushu was content to just rest on Ping's shoulder for the moment. Though his gaze kept going from a blank bored expression to looking at Ping's new handy dandy pocket knife. That was in fact a person, a person that had somehow doubled and been evil? No...that wasn't it. Man this was getting confusing. The guy felt the same as his, what was it- Shadow? But they were completely different.

Feeling the tension the little dragon stood up, patting Ping on the cheek.]

Alright! Whose with me now- take out's soundin' real good right about now. Don't know about you but this fog's given me the creeps. Let's hop too it people! The faster we move-

[He hunched down, ears pinned against his head.]

-the faster we get outta this corn soup.

[Whispers to Ping.]

So...why are we carrying the red-head again?

Shang just looked sidelong at the Weapon in Mulan's hands, before returning to scanning the area for possible threats. He might now like Lavi, but he wasn't about to just leave him in the fog.

He frowned - what was that? Shang stared into the fog, intend - he could have sworn he just saw something moving in the fog.

He stared at the spot, but he could see no other movement. It could be a trick of the eye, or there could be something out there. Either way, Shang would remain alert.

"Stop talking," he said to Mushu. "Something could hear you. And your attention would be better spend keeping an eye out." Since Shang was busy focusing on the fog, he didn't turn to glare at Mushu - as much as he would like to - so he settled for a stern tone that was weighted down with displeasure.

"Do you see something?"

Honestly, the chills had settled in a long time ago, for China, and so his hackles were up enough to take the Captain's glancing about in the most serious manner possible-- seeing anything in this fog seemed to count as 'bad,' if that... odd experience with Lavi had taught him anything. Mushu only got a glance to make sure the dragon was safely perched on a shoulder; Ping got a longer look, as if re-checking what he had already checked: if he was wounded.

The whole Weapon and Meister business... He owed a talk to Lavi. There would be a talk. Especially if carrying the boy around (though it wouldn't, he knew, with how resonation worked) got Ping in trouble.
