Time: July 18 in the very, very weeeeee hours of the morning.

Lavi stared out the library window watching the fog thicken and churn. He had turned off his device earlier annoyed with his current predicament. China seemed intent on stopping Ping from reaching him and quite frankly Lavi didn't blame him. Still it was a hindrance to the redhead if he had to walk back to the apartments without those glasses. Tapping his fingers on one of the tables he let out a heavy sigh.

Screw this, he thought. Lavi stood up and moved for the library doors. With his fine memory he was pretty sure he knew the way back to the apartments even with the thickness of the fog hindering his vision. He'd just have to move carefully and hope whatever was out there wasn't too much for him to handle.

Before leaving the building entirely he pulled down his headband and pressed it over his mouth and nose. If it helped keep him from fainting then it would. If not then nothing would be lost by doing it. So with stupid determination he stepped out into the fog, relying on his memory to map his way back to the apartments.

[Thick the fog might be, but Ping had his glasses so it was as if there was nothing there. He lowered them a little. If he didn't have them he wouldn't be able to maneuver in this at all, and it would have been a huge detriment to his travels. Soon Shibusen came into view, as did the figure of Lavi and he stopped immediately. Lavi would probably have trouble seeing in this, and he didn't want to startle him with his footsteps.

There was still some distance between them, perhaps ten or so yards, so he raised his voice and hailed him]

Lavi!

[He hears him call out his name and stops. Well this just became far easier.]

Ping? Where are you?

[Good! He didn't get startled]

Wait where you are, I'm coming to you, okay?

[With that Ping once more picks up his pace, jogging steadily towards Lavi till he is a couple feet away.]

Right in front of you [reaches out a hand an inch from him] See me? [rummaging to get out monocle]

[Blinks at the sudden hand in his face.] Yeah I do. [Takes his hand and shakes it.] Glad I ran into you before I got out too far. Didn't get into any trouble on your way over did you?

I did not. [holds his hand for a moment before placing the monocle in it]

Guess this makes me officially English now. [He snorts at his own joke and puts it on. Suddenly he sees Ping and grins.] Much better.

[you might not see him coming. even sick, armed with glasses and a sleeve over his mouth, he's dashing along- not yelling, because the shadows are distracting, wary-making things, and when he gets the glimpse of solid, upright figures who are speaking normally, one voice sounding like--]

[well. you won't see him coming, because he's going to immediately bulldoze into Ping, attacking via hug. apparently not noticing Lavi yet.]

[only slightly bumbling stumbling:] Ping! Aiiya, Ping-- you are fine, yes? You are okay? [pull back, once-over him, lift an arm without consent, check for injuries of any sort.] You are, dui a? Shi de? Yes, yes, yes?

[Lavi watches both of them for a minute, hands in his pockets. Really from a third point perspective it's actually pretty funny to watch.

Minute gone he sighs.] You aren't looking too hot there, China.

[he freezes, raises his eyes from where he was inspecting Ping's side to stare.]

I know, aru. That is why it is stupid that you are here. What the hell were you thinking--? [- oh. small blink, and he's backing off to a comfortable distance, though watching his citizen very, very closely. for his words, his tone's mostly concerned, obvious agitated with worry.]

[but even when Lavi speaks up, China keeps his eyes on Ping, though something dark seems to crop up, make his shoulders stiffen.] I hope it was not truly just for that bèn dàn, who, I assume, left the school, even as you headed out.

[another pause.]

[raising his voice, looking off into the fog:]

Captain! I found him, aru! ... Aaiya, I found them!

[nearly flinches at the tone, and a sense of disappointment begins to build up in him. He lowers his head, properly shamed, but then lifts it a little in surprise when he hears the manner in which his country addresses Lavi. To say Ping is confused would be an understatement. He had decided not to announce his departure so that China would not worry, yet he still found out somehow. Were countries capable of knowing where their people are?]

[His spine freezes a little when China calls out to...doubtless Shang and Ping looks in the direction he called out, now looking like he was shrinking where he stood]

[Well damn. He was in trouble]

[oh wait he's meant to be acting like a Captain isn't he? Shang straightens, and tries to look like a dignified leader rather than a lovesick fool] Soldier. I expect you to know better than to go out alone into unknown conditions.

[and then he sends a glare to Lavi. When he has made sure Mulan is safe, you are going to DIE.]

Ignoring Shang's dark look towards him as well (he barely even knew this man, what-) he folded his arms behind his head and started to walk forward.] Are we done with the reunion now? I'm sure we can continue this back at the apartments.
