True enough, Vergil had stubbornly refused to allow Yuna anywhere near the household chores since bringing her home from the clinic, which had been a careful and meticulous process in itself. Motorbikes aren’t exactly the safest option for somebody denied the use of one of their arms. Even so, it had been to his advantage that keeping busy meant that he hadn’t been constantly by her side or hovering, which was a decided improvement from the days previous ( ... )

To be honest, Yuna was more than grateful for any distraction he could give her, so when he wandered into the living room, as he’d done several times that day already, the summoner smiled easily. Speaking with him made the time go by faster, rather than simply laying around with nothing to do. She had never been much of a reader, and so it didn’t hold her attention for very long. Plus, holding it with one hand got...uncomfortable quickly.

Leaning her head back against the pillow propped up behind her neck, Yuna’s gaze followed Vergil as he crossed the room and moved to lean against the back of the couch. “Mm, couldn’t be better,” she said pleasantly, with a somewhat amused grin on her face. She could be better, but he had made sure that she was remarkably comfortable and well taken care of. Boredom and restlessness were the only two things she was suffering from, currently. Even the lingering pain in her head was gone ( ... )

Vergil’s expression relaxed a fraction at Yuna’s grin. Not for the first time for that which he had known her, he had to marvel at her ability to smile even after being seriously injured and then essentially confined. For his own part, he would cringe at the thought of suffering any permanent damage to his body, no matter how minor. Even moreso in the case of an arm. As it were, though, he was insistent at keeping her off her feet primarily due to the head injury. That is one thing he himself hadn’t had the misfortune of suffering from just yet.

Were that not the case, he’d offer to go for a walk with her somewhere. Or something. There’s nothing he can think of really, which is why as always he was stuck on small talk. “Only three,” he answered. He didn’t have to be anywhere until six, and normally he’d use this time for training anyway. Making an amused sound, he added, “Why, trying to get rid of me so you can escape at last?” Or worse, do some work around the apartment. Too bad for her, I finished everything.

Hrm. That did only ( ... )

Only three? She felt like she’d been awake for ages already. Sleep would probably make the time go by faster, but Yuna had already done so much of that already, especially while she’d been in the clinic. She didn’t think she could nap again if she tried ( ... )

Conrad stopped before the door and adjusted the collar on his shirt once more. In his hands he held a small box of cookies, the best thing he could come up with for a recovering woman on such short notice and limited resources.

This girl was Yuuri's partner, and it was only right that he try to make friends. He knew a little about her, based on what he'd observed and gathered on his own (and from Yuuri, who was of course always helpful in unwittingly providing information).

He knocked on the door out of politeness.

Vergil had left the apartment a short while before to head to work when Yuna heard the knock at the door. She was unsure who might be here; perhaps Vergil had forgotten something in the apartment, though he wouldn't knock. That would be silly.

Still, she had a sleeping kitten on her lap, and Vergil would be upset if she got up from the couch until tomorrow. It was slightly rude, but she called out in a slightly raised voice.

"Come in! It's open," she said, waiting to see who was stopping in to see her.

He cracked open the door slightly, stepping into the room slowly so that she could see he meant her no harm.

"Yuna, correct?"

Yuna's expression was confused as the man came into the apartment. His features were friendly enough, though she couldn't say she recognized him at all.

"Yes, that's me," she said quietly. "I'm sorry. I don't believe we've met before."

Yuna looked up from her book at the sound of Auron's voice outside the door after the light knock of his knuckles against the wood. A smile lit up her face at the familiar, low tone, and she spoke up.

"We're here, Auron. Just come on in."

Yuna chuckled at Auron's words, nodding her head ever so slightly.

"Just a little bit," she said, looking sheepish. She should have known better than to get herself hurt, but there was little she could do about it now except obey Vergil's doctor's orders.

The fingers of her good hand came up to touch the spot he referred to gingerly. "Just a bit of one. The headache is gone now, though. I'll be fine." Yuna tilted her head curiously. "What happened to you?"

It was a little amusing, knowing that Vergil and Yuna were now literally a walk across the corridor. Roy hadn't ever thought that they'd end up being neighbors.

Still, he was responsible for three other people now. There was no way his entire group could stand staying in Death City Heights. He knew he needed the space, for one.

The alchemist knocked on the door. He had decided to take a break from unpacking and setting things in order, and that meant going over to see his friends.

At the sound of the knock on the door, Yuna looked up from the small bundle of fur in her lap, though her fingers continued to stroke along the soft hair on the top of its head between its ears and here eyes moved toward the door.

"Come on in," she called in a slightly raised voice. Yuna glanced toward Vergil's door then, wondering if he would come out to help her greet whoever their guest might be.

Almost as if in obedience, the door to Vergil's room swung inward and he made his way out into the living room at the sound of Yuna's voice. He flicked a glance towards the door. Why even close it? If there's one thing that hadn't occurred to him when moving in with Yuna, it was that the girl had plenty of well-wishers.

"Just mind the crazed animal," he drawled half-jokingly in warning. He'd just returned from finding out in full what that thing had done to his room while left unattended. It was a good thing to know that it's sweet and docile now, because he was suddenly vividly aware of what it was capable of when far more energetic.

Oh, awesome. I didn't have this tracked. >_> thewarisover April 17 2011, 16:33:45 UTC
...Crazed animal? That made Roy blink as he opened the door, but one look pretty much explained it all.

"I didn't think I'd ever see you in the general vicinity of an animal that you weren't out to kill, Vergil."

Guess who Rikku told about Vergil and Yuna's new living arrangements. Go on, guess.

Now guess who's at the door wanting to see for himself if this was true. He had managed to keep himself from knocking too enthusiastically or kicking down the door with a crazy grin on his face. You wouldn't have thought that he was the one on the other side of the door...

...unless you were utterly convinced that life hated you. Unfortunately, Vergil had only begun to suspect this as he answered the door to the apartment, expecting yet another well-wisher.

...

"Did you want something?" he asked drolly, while inwardly hoping this would end painlessly for once. He didn't need to ask.

This was it. The line had been crossed. He now knew who had to pay.

Rikku had to die.

Yuna had been about to speak again when she heard Vergil cross the room toward the apartment door at the sound of the knock. Setting her book down on the table, the summoner tried not to disturb the kitten on her lap as she tried to peer around his form and catch a glimpse of who was standing in the doorway.

By the tone of his voice, she could probably guess.

"Who's here, Vergil?"

"Heard you guys moved." Dante invited himself into the apartment. He knew it wouldn't happen unless he did it himself. "So I'd thought I'd stop by to see the place."

He whistled as he examined the rooms, but stopped when he saw Yuna. "How'd that happen?" He threw a glance at his brother that said Vergil, you are a terrible boyfriend.
