First violent reactions and complaints here, if any. daddyscythe May 22 2010, 04:10:10 UTC
"Well then!" he said with a friendly smile, surveying the new faces. Certainly the BREW was finally starting to bring in more and more women... it was pretty exciting!

We're supposed to help out with your war effort, then? What if we're not soldiers or don't know how to fight?

War isn't just about fighting! You can help with the medics, or even with the rations, or you can just help boost morale all around. [earnestly] You don't even have to join the war at all, really, but there is always something you can do to help!

The Shibusen tour will take you up to the classrooms, a quick show of the library.

"Shibusen is the school that also serves as the local governing authority in the city. Our students are comprised mainly of meisters and weapons, which are trained to protect the city and the world against threats that the local police cannot handle. We are conducting classes for the guests every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10:30 in the morning, to elaborate on the things you need to learn about this world. The classes cover a lot of topics that we think are necessary for your stay here, so please attend!"

[This sounds awesome already.] So we can come to the classes, even if we don't want to fight?

[thumbs up!] Yep! You can use the information anyway!

[His impression of the man is incredulous. He wonders if he is as competent at his job as his appearance suggests, but proceeds to find out anyway.]

I would personally like to know more about this governing authority. Is this something that will be covered in classes?

Moving on, you are taken to the front of the school that overlooks the rest of the city, which looks like this and this. The city is shaped like a mountain, so you can look downward at pretty much everything.

"You don't have to worry about living accommodations. We have refurbished a building to serve as your first residence here in the city. When you find a partner later on, you may move to Death City Heights, a set of townhouses built especially for you guys."

[Yuri lets out a whistle, a bit taken aback by the view. This place looks as big as the capital back home, if not bigger. He perks up somewhat at the mention of living accommodations and redirects his gaze from the buildings below to Spirit.]

Free, huh? Guess I can't complain about that. About finding partners, though... How does that work? Can it be anyone, or...?

It can be anyone, as long as you're comfortable with them! Like... soul mates, that sort of thing. [grin grin]

So it can be anyone... Is there some sort of process you have to go through, or do two people just have to agree to it?

You are led down the stairs and through the streets. Here, the shops all have a distinct holloween to them, but the paths are made of cobblestone and are pretty quaint.

"Shibusen will provide for your basic necessities, no worries. If you see the Holocaust Mall over there, the grocery should have everything you need for your every day needs. However and unfortunately, we can't fund your more expensive luxuries, so you'll need to gain employment for that if you like. We're currently coordinating with the rest of the city for job openings that you can apply to. The bank is accepting accounts from you, too, so no worries there."

A cat is perched on one of the walls, watching the new group. Is it grinning? And why is it wearing a hat?

That cat is familiar. Spirit eyes it with interest, boob-senses tingling. Oh!

"Blair~ We have new people today!"

The cat meows in response before jumping away. More people to play with would be nice. She will see you all soon!

You'll see a bunch of wrecked structures here and there. There's a sign of some fire that happened lately, although the damage is minimal. His expression turned a little serious.

"We've just had a fight with a kishin lately, which means that the city is still recovering from that. Kishins will be covered in class.

At the same time, we have a criminal on the loose, so I would advice that everyone should practice caution when leaving the Communal and going anywhere. The criminal's name is Doctor Jonathan Crane, aka Scarecrow, and his modus operandi is to catch and experiment on people. He uses chemicals on these people to trigger their fears."

[ This is about the time when Tseng wanders away from the crowd, if only to swipe one gloved finger across an exposed beam and frown down at it like it's decided to insult his mother. ]

I trust there is a plan in action to eliminate him?

[ What is that guy doing... Spirit hopes fervently that BREW hadn't just dragged in another OCD guy like that Monk dude. ]

Er, yes! The guests and the local police have been conducting constant patrols to keep an eye out for him, and curfews and escort groups have been planned to keep the guests -- his primary targets -- safe.

[ Tseng nods respectfully. Oh, oh, what do you have against OCD guys, Mr. Spirit? ]

Thank you. I suppose then that you're not the person to talk to if I wanted more information about these patrols?
