[His answer comes immediately as he approaches from behind. Boris greets the girl with a wave before lifting up Basil from his seat on the other swing.]
I do so beg your pardon, Basil. [A snicker and he occupies the seat instead, placing the doll on his lap after as he starts swinging. At least he's careful to not let Basil fall?]
You looked lonely, Alice! And you gotta know that I don't approve of that.
Cheshire! [Alice was actually very glad to see the pink and purple grinning cat. He was one of the few creatures that could always make her feel better. Boris made her miss her Cheshire a bit but she still loved this one just as much.]
Despite having seen his last ancestor leave this world, Desmond chose to keep on training, to at least keep himself in shape and maybe find another teacher for weapons' training. That's why he left after his breakfast to jog, the day already passed its midpoint despite the bartender not being up for more than over an hour

"It just... all seems very sad right now," she said as she rested her head against the chain. But then she looked up and offered a forced smile. "I'm sorry, I'm sure you were busy sir." He looked like he was in any case. She didn't quite remember him but she remembered she had met him at the very least. Alice frowned and her grip tightened a little.
The older man shook his head as he wiped the sweat away from his brow.
"I'm not busy. Would it help to talk about it?" he asked as he took a seat on the swing next to her. He was used to comfort people, to let them talk and let them figure out solutions to their problems on their own at the bar. Doing so with a kid shouldn't so different, right?
Planting the heels of his shoes in the sand beneath them, he pushed himself slightly, letting the swing move him slowly. For a very brief moment, Desmond had a vision of a darker haired girl instead of the little blond, the child wearing dresses more appropriate to the 15th centuries than the Modern Days. Blinking the images away, he kept on smiling softly, something that was rare for him.
"You just?" he pressed on, letting the kid know he was listening. Maybe he could help her, whatever happened to make her sad?
"Everyone keeps saying things will be alright. But if it turned out alright then why do they say "life isn't fair?" If things turn out alright then life should be fair shouldn't it? If things turn out alright than people who are unhappy get to be happy and..." She sighed as she looked up at the sky. Alice was grappling with a topic she didn't really understand. Her view of the world was still black and white. She didn't even understand that when people meant "life isn't fair" it wasn't fair that good men went homeless whilst greedy misers bought more and more land. That there was war and good people died on both sides.
All of that didn't even enter her mind although the concept was starting to take root. Why did her brother have to leave to a world that made him miserable when he was happy here?
And then there was the second matter entirely that Alice knew all about. 'You couldn't dream forever.' But at the same time, she believed so deeply in her dreams. She was so terribly confused! She wanted to cry but she knew it

belated, but I've wanted these two to meet! ;;prowallflowerMarch 24 2011, 22:11:00 UTC
[Liam had a Hare's soul and why they were distinctly different from rabbits-- or their stuffed, velveteen counterparts-- he can't help but notice a little girl on her own looking solemn as he's ever felt. Being a grown man, it feels immediately awkward to approach her, but. He works with the police well enough. Should she be let entirely on her own when she appears even younger than Master Oz?]
I'm sorry for eavesdropping, but... I like to believe that they do.
[He keeps his distance-- some feet away-- just in case the appearance of a tall stranger might cause the child further unease.]
Not belated at all!madcuriosityMarch 24 2011, 22:15:55 UTC
[She jumped slightly at the intrusion of another voice that certainly wasn't Basil's voice. It couldn't be Basil's because Basil couldn't talk, although she was of the opinion he could certain hear and answer in his own ways. But that was neither here nor hare.... there. She turned to face the other, she had never seen this man before but that didn't really mean much. At the response to her question she blinked for a moment and offered a small, if slightly forced, smile.]
It should right? But all I'm ever told is "life isn't fair" so then why would everything turn out all right?
It isn't fair, no, but it's balanced. I suppose that's what I meant. If things are... sour at the moment, later, they should turn out sweet.
[That sounds like analogy Xerxes Break would be more adapt at portraying, but Liam's doing his best here. The last time he coached a girl of this age into a smile, he wasn't much older and it was Sharon who was-- more of a sister than anything.]
If that's true... then why has it been nothing but sad things lately? [It sounded so horribly pessimistic to say, and Alice wasn't sure she entirely meant it. But still, her brother, D, Cloud, Ezio, Dastan, Sebastian, those were a lot of "sour" moments and certainly not enough sweet ones to balance that.]
A peaceful walk never really ends as a peaceful walk in this world. Yet, Frederic didn't ever expect to encounter anything along his way. From afar he noticed the young girl sitting on the swings in the park, with her back facing towards him. He briefly recognized her as the young woman who he had found sleeping in the snow a few months earlier. He would have been more pleased to see that she was all right, but she certainly didn't look like she was, even though he couldn't see her face. He slowly approached, not wanting to startle her.
Upon hearing her words to her doll, Frederic's heart sank. To see a young girl despairing like this was heartbreaking.
Alice's head lifted from where it rested against the chain of the swing and she turned to look at the man. She didn't recognize him, honestly. She met so many people that sometimes it was hard to remember everyone. But she didn't mean to forget people if she did.
It was natural for Alice to wander out in the open at times; she did have a bit of animal instinct and what better to do then to get fresh air? And the fact that she was still a child just led her to the park.
Only then did she hear a voice coming from the swing set. Peering around the bush, Alice watched carefully. She didn't really sense danger but she can tell that this girl was sad. Call it a sixth sense. Cheeks puffing, she slowly walked out to speak.
Alice jumped slightly and when she saw the older Alice she actually brightened up. She loved being around the other Alice's. She gave a small smile, though it was a little forced.
The brunette gave a slightly confused stare. Another person that knew about her here? Well, she's used to this by now. She walked over to the now open swing and stared at it; looking back at the blond Alice.
"If you keep being sad, nothing will get better!" Of course, Alice had a weird way of trying to cheer people up.. It was just part of who she was.
Even if it was an odd way of cheering up, Alice was used to it. And more than that, she was actually grateful to see an old face. But Alice couldn't be sure if the other girl remembered her or not. Which was slightly disheartening but certainly better than not having her at all. She gave a small smile. Well, there would always be one way to find out she supposed.
"Are you going to bite my cheek if I keep being sad?"
