The sound of the swing rocking back and forth was the only sound in the otherwise empty playground that was near her house. Short parallel tracks lay in the sand beneath the swing left by tiny feet that shifted only a little. Blond tendrils acted as a curtain to hide a young face, Alice's head bowed and focused on nothing in general except her feet. Her eyes were shining from tears unshed. She didn't want to cry anymore but it seemed like there was nothing to make her smile. Just people kept waking up. The hardest hit had been her brother but it just kept piling on. D, Cloud, Dastan, Ezio, and now Sebastian. She truly tried to keep her chin up about the whole matter. She really did try not to cry or to be upset about the whole matter. People kept telling her "they wouldn't want you upset" and in a fit of anger she wanted to just tell everyone "well then they shouldn't have left" but that wasn't fair. She didn't want to get upset at other people.
She was scared though. With so many leaving all she could think of was "who's next?" Would she lose Stitch or Tamaki? Would she lose Ty Lee or Cosette? Would she lose her father? Her breath hitched at that and her eyes stung. She had to blink rapidly and take deep breaths to try and get rid of that thought. She closed her eyes, her shoulders shaking as she tried not to cry about so many of her loved ones leaving. It wasn't fair. It wasn't fair that they kept leaving.
She glanced over to Basil. Her constant companion who sat in silence on the other swing. The stuffed rabbit's ear fell over and she sat up and sighed. She rested her head on the chain of the swing and her hands fell in her lap as she just rocked back and forth. It wasn't fair.
It just wasn't fair and Alice started wondering if there was anything fair at all anymore. She didn't like that her thoughts were on such depressing things, she hated such sad thoughts. But honestly that's all her mind kept coming back to. Why did Takuma have to leave to a world that would make him sad? Why did Sebastian get separated from Ciel? Various other questions, none of them very pleasant.
"Do things truly come out alright in the end?" she asked her rabbit.
