He hadn't stopped looking for her. Not since she'd vanished. By the Angel, he'd dragged Jessamine out to look for her at one point. He was worried, damn it. Sighing, he ran his fingers through his hair as he walked along an area he'd already been through a dozen times.

And then he saw her.

Izzy.

Running forward, he fell to his knees next to her. He could see she was injured and he quickly got out his stele so he could help. "I swear to the Angel if you do this to me again, I'm forcing you to marathon Max's cartoon things."

It was easier to force her tears back as Jace appeared at her side in a way, but harder at the same time. Isabelle let out a small gasp of relief as black eyes focused on her brother; she could barely breathe, and the urge to just turn and hug him was overwhelming, if for no other reason than to make sure he was really there, threatening her with menial, empty threats like she hadn't disappeared for only the Angel knew how long.

So she did. It was a bit of a difficult effort, but she managed it, throwing her arms around Jace's shoulders in as tight a cling as she could manage. It was everything Izzy could do to keep from crying right then; that was something better suited to when she was alone with her own thoughts. The mention of Max tightened the lump in her throat, and she couldn't help but think that his death was her fault.

He was about to give her a Mark when her arms were around him. Honestly, he had no idea what all the details were but that was fine. He just wrapped his arms around her in return and held her. Stupid Isabelle...making him worry like that. Jace would have thought something like he would have killed her for that but even he wasn't that tactless.

"You look like Hell warmed over. Let me help so I can be the handsome hero carrying the princess to safety without you bleeding everywhere."

Marks could wait. They could always wait. She wasn't dying, not any more. Izzy only loosed the hug slightly, just enough to turn her head out so she could talk without being entirely muffled into Jace's shoulder. "By the Angel, Jace. I'm fine," she tried to laugh, only choking out a weak attempt. She knew there was no arguing with him, though, even if it meant her reputation as being able to walk away from anything was shaken.

She supposed it already was, what with her being taken so unawares. And honestly, was there really so much wrong with letting him take care of her every now and then?

The past week had been hectic to say the least. It wasn't the fact that being the only female in the manor once again was what was getting to her. It was the heavy cloud of Jace's moodiness and anger and Max's own sadness that made the atmosphere absolutely unbearable. Jessamine's own stress hadn't helped either. When she had found out that Isabelle had been murdered, she hadn't been quite sure how to react. Shadowhunters were meant to accept that people died and move on, but this was quite different. She had become very good at hiding her own feelings for years since she entered the Institute and it had become something she prided herself on. Getting dragged along to search for Isabelle's killer hadn't helped either. It had been fruitless and besides, from what she had gathered, it sounded very much like a Downwolder had done the deed.

Isabelle's murder had shifted something in her though. Jessamine had been truly terrified. Knowing that even in a dream world that someone, even someone as tough as Izzy, could be killed scared her ( ... )

If there was anything good for a depressing moment, it was Jessamine. Isabelle dragged her eyes up, keeping every sign of potential tears out of her expression - the only possible tell was the faint wetness just above her lashes - and forced a small pursing of her lips before pulling a dagger from where its familiar weight hung at her belt. Feeling oddly reassured with it in hand, she turned it once between her fingers and tucked it into her hair, piling it up into a messy bun. She would double-check later that it was nothing more than residual blood from Sebastian's attack.

"Nothing," Izzy replied casually, keeping her voice as even as possible. Doubtless word had spread about what had happened to her - what had happened to her? It wasn't like she could come up with some cover story at this point. One thing she could learn from Jessamine, though, was how much time had passed. "So, did you miss me?"

Jessamine was the queen of hiding how she was feeling and while she didn't notice the wet eyelashes, she knew that body posture from anywhere. It was someone who was trying terribly hard to hide something that they didn't want others to know. Still. It wasn't like her to pry, especially when it was someone like Isabelle that she was talking to.

A little flush of embarrassment started to creep up onto her cheeks and Jessamine sniffed fiddling with her parasol. "Oh, please. The quiet was quite a welcome change although I didn't get much of that, not with Jace stomping around the place trying to find you. Not to mention Max was moping." Her eyes darted back to Isabelle and she tried her best to glare. "You made them worried."

Even if Isabelle weren't the type of person to ignore and not dwell on problems - either her own or those of others - she still probably wouldn't have let Jessamine know what was bothering her. Even if she could pinpoint just one or two little reasons. Her head was swimming, both with the effort of forced recognition and of trying to remember specific details, and she wanted nothing more than to get back to the manor and crash.

She noticed more than people gave her credit for, though, and the blush didn't go unnoticed; she did, however, offer Jessamine the benefit of the doubt and not comment, passing the small curving at the corners of her mouth off as a reaction to her words. "Nice to know. Remind me later; I'll make them dinner or something." A joke. She was recovering faster than she thought.

"Everything's the same otherwise?" Her hand shifted to touch the ruby tied around her throat where it quietly thrummed a demonic presence. Unsurprising, but not a pleasant reminder of what she'd left.

Haseo had been walking down the street, doing what he usually did lately. Trying to find the bastard that killed one of his closet friends here. His eyes were dark and he generally looked more like a suspect than an avenging friend at that point.

And then he stopped. In the middle of the street was--...He stared mutely. "Isabelle?" It came out quietly, before he broke off at a run, jogging to her side, staring mutely. "Isabelle you're--" He tried to choke out more words, relief at his friend being safe but--all he could do was stare mutely at her, checking her for injuries, looking around to make sure there was nothing lurking in the shadows.

He wouldn't fail to protect his friends again. He wouldn't--

"You're...--"

Her thoughts had been elsewhere until a few long moments after he arrived at her side, her fingers tenderly testing a spot under her hair, at the back of her head. She let out a soft, gasping sigh as black eyes shifted up to look at him, words just as much caught in her own throat as his were. There was her proof she was really back in Somarium - the sight of one of her closest friends, fully and completely from another world.

"Haseo..." Isabelle started, unsure of what else to say. She was hit by too much all at once; even if she were still back in Alicante, she wasn't sure she'd be entirely fine. And especially not with the knowledge she now had. Airing on the side of caution and not bothering to speak, she simply threw her arms around him in a tight embrace.

He started at the touch, but eventually he relented, the rigidness he'd had the last week resolving as he wrapped his arms around her in return, voice gruff and fierce, "You idiot, " He choked, "Don't scare me like that again, got it?"

Haseo didn't want to lose anymore friends--not when he was around. Not someone like Isabelle, who was always so strong.

If anything, she hugged him tighter at the feeling of his flinch. She nodded as much as she could against his shoulder, biting her lip to keep her tears from falling. "Like I wanted to," Izzy managed in reply, trying as best she could for a nonchalant response. She hated being so powerless and frail, like a little girl without her Marks. Her memory still flickered in and out, giving her a skewed image of exactly what happened.
