The Master was, quite frankly, unimpressed. He'd been here barely four days and now the Doctor was here. Immediately after that dream. Memory. However one wanted to term it. It would, of course, provide more entertainment, more amusement, in a manner of speaking, but at the same time--. It was frustrating and, apparently, he didn't even have the TARDIS. Leaving was going to be particularly difficult. It was almost ironic that he'd died in order to escape being the Doctor's pet, and now here they were, the two of them, trapped together
( ... )
It wasn't a terribly difficult task to grab Light's attention, especially in his new-found awareness, considering the possibility of this being something more than a dream, however slim the chance was. At first, he was reluctant to respond, unsure to what extent he'd even wish to humor what he perceived to be a dream entity; the equivalent of what may as well be an imaginary friend mustered up in his head. He glanced back at the man awkwardly, observing him as he observed Light, and letting a short breath escape him before stepping forward.
"Yeah, you could call me that..." Light began, taking a brief pause, "and yourself? You must be a resident of this place, right?" Feigning ignorance, although he admittedly wasn't completely sure that was the case.
Pressing his lips together momentarily, the Master shook his head, a look of vague amusement crossing his face. "Not as such. I've not long found myself here, either". He looked up towards the sky momentarily, towards the floating castle. It was interesting -- the castle, that was, but as of this moment, ultimately irrelevant.
"Although, I suppose with the lack of a discernible exit, for all intents and purposes, as of this moment, I'm a resident. Whatever that means in the long run".
It took Light a moment to process that, torn on how he should take it. On one hand, the conditions explained to him by this man could amount to little more than meaningless stipulations attached to his own dream to give it more substance... but on the other hand, maybe he wasn't getting out anytime soon.
Light let a brief chuckle escape his lips, the tone of which held an indiscernible mixture of arrogance and nervousness. "You're joking, right? No exit? Sorry, but you'll have to forgive me if I find that to be just a bit suspicious..."
Namine had been patrolling around looking for new arrival's. She didn't want anyone to freeze in the snow after all. with these thoughts in mind she had packed her bag full of warm clothes, grabbed her constant companion these days; her moogle plushie and went on a tour of Espoir.
That's when she found a man she had never seen before looking bewildered. Hurrying over to him she smiles sweetly. "Excuse me sir, Are you new to Somarium?"
Light turned himself, peering down at the young girl that presented herself before him. She reminded him a lot of Misa, only less annoying. Still, the resemblance was enough to make him wary as he was prompted to answer her after a short delay.
"Yeah, this is probably my first time being here, except I don't exactly intend for it to be a permanent visit. After all, this whole thing is just a dream, isn't it?" he inquired, taking his chances in asking someone more naive about that whole line of reasoning. It would make him look far less idiotic in the event that he was wrong about it; although her verdict might not be enough to convince him. A dream girl would never admit to being a dream girl, would she?
"Well...Somarium is a dream world but I don't think there is a way to leave. Not by your own will or anything. That's what the others say. and some of them have been here for...a year." She shakes her head and shrugs.
"I'm Namine by the way. I arrived a month ago. Somarium isn't all that bad once you get to know it." She gives him a shy smile.
"Really now?" he responded, raising an eyebrow curiously at her claim. "Not to brag or anything, but I've gotten quite good at being able to abort my own dreams prematurely. A lot of the time it's just as simple as opening your eyes if you can manage to recognize that you're dreaming in the first place. And even if you can't, merely getting too excited in a dream could force you out of it completely. It's pretty interesting."
His studies had led him to become very familiar with his surroundings. Nakago now felt confident that he could interact more freely with those who were here and recognize those who were new. Much like the young man before him. His blue eyes wandered over him and he smirked for a moment. There was intelligence in that expression. It was not difficult to miss.
Letting his long legs carry him forward, Nakago stopped before the younger man. Intelligence would be something useful in a place like this.
"Are you lost?"
This younger man was tall but he still managed to be taller than him.
Light brought his head up at the appearance of such a tall, exotic man, his curiosity piqued immediately by his foreign attire. If anyone could be able to confirm the possibility of it all being a dream on presentation alone, it was this guy.
Light shook his head, giving Nakago a confident, but respectful smirk back. "Even though 'lost' isn't the first word I would use, I don't exactly know where I am, either... which, I suppose isn't much different from being lost to begin with," he responded, chuckling.
"That I can answer," Nakago stated calmly. "You're in a dream world known as Somarium." He let his blue eyes wander over him with mild curiosity. The man didn't have the build of someone who was a fighter. Then again, there were very few in any world who had intelligence and physical strength.
All the same, he was intriguing. Confident but respectful. Mix that with intelligence and he could be a valuable ally or a dangerous foe. After all, there was probably more to this one than what came across first.
"Somarium?" he mimicked, glancing back up at that castle in the sky. That, more than anything, was a surefire sign that he was dreaming. Nothing could just suspend itself in midair like that. Nothing he'd seen, anyway. "Interesting... so what you're saying is that all of this is just a product of my imagination, huh? Pretty creative... I've got to hand it to myself. It's unique, but not too surreal to the point of being excessive. Almost abstract..."
Another newcomer. Would they ever stop? Ange peered at the most recent resident of Somarium with a bit of curiousity and a bit of apprehension...after all, not everyone was friendly.
"Excuse me?" Light promptly answered back, eyes peering up as he turned to view the approaching woman. "A Dreamberry, did you say? You don't mean this cell phone, do you?" He grasped the item in his hand as he deduced that, giving it another observant glance over. "Sorry, you must have overheard me..."
She wouldn't have bothered, but as someone had so recently said, they were all stuck in the same place, weren't they? She had been new here once, and now someone else was. Might as well help out a little, at least.
"That's it. You can see other people's dreams through it," she stated, without much enthusiasm. After all, who wanted other people to see their dreams?
"Other people's dreams? As in, other residents?" He found that to be slightly mind-boggling, if not oddly amusing. "So let me get this straight.. we're all trapped in a dream world called Somarium, and inside that dream world, even more dreams are being imagined? Dreams within a dream? Huh..." His eyes wandered, reviewing the thought of it. "Sounds pretty interesting."
Grell had been asleep for the past few weeks. So, feeling rather well rested, he used this opportunity to make his way around Somarium. There were several new contacts on his Dreamberry and he was dying to meet them all~ For all he knew, he could find a woman as captivating as Madam Red (and without all of the petty emotions she carried with her)... Or he could find a man as gorgeous as Sebasti-- Now now, let's not get carried away.
No man is as gorgeous as Sebastian..
However, the young man walking before him was quite a sight for sore eyes and Grell just had to introduce himself. He quickly caught up to the new resident and grinned, showing a mouthful of razor-sharp teeth.
"Ah~ I don't believe we've had the pleasure of meeting!!" he laughed, extending a gloved hand toward Light and flipping a lock of long red hair over his shoulder with the other.
Not even in Light's politeness could he stand to witness such a monstrous set of teeth without reacting back with at least the slightest cringe and grimace. This man (woman...?) definitely looked as if he could have been part of Light's nightmares. Naturally, he was reluctant to return the gesture, but after some moments of close examination got around to extending his own hand out to shake Grell's; but not for long before retracting it.
"Yeah... pleased to meet you, too..." he said awkwardly. Either people around Somarium really were this welcoming, or this guy had some hidden agenda. He looked to have the type of face Light would have disposed of a long time ago, whatever the means of death. He knew a criminal when he saw one.
Light's intuition was correct. Grell was a criminal, and quite a fabulous one, at that. Though, he didn't like to think of himself as a criminal, but as a gorgeous Death God who was just... taking several liberties when it came to doing his job.
Did he have a hidden agenda? Possibly.
Did he think that this young man was, in any way, harmful? Absolutely not.
His hands landed on his hips as he struck a pose, his grin still spanning the width of his face. "It's absolutely wonderful to see such a gorgeous young man in Somarium~!! However, I do think you would look... much better if you added a bit of red to your wardrobe!!!"
Then the two quite certainly had a lot in common, for Light considered himself to be a god. Unlike Grill, however... that fact wasn't too easy to extract from appearances alone, for Kira's agenda was buried deep beneath layers and layers of skillful deception. At the moment, his expression took on a mixture of suspicion and discomfort as the man practically imposed himself on Light with his words. "Red, huh? Why do you say that?"
