The Master was, quite frankly, unimpressed. He'd been here barely four days and now the Doctor was here. Immediately after that dream. Memory. However one wanted to term it. It would, of course, provide more entertainment, more amusement, in a manner of speaking, but at the same time--. It was frustrating and, apparently, he didn't even have the TARDIS. Leaving was going to be particularly difficult. It was almost ironic that he'd died in order to escape being the Doctor's pet, and now here they were, the two of them, trapped together.

He'd decided to go for a walk, more out of a need to do something than any desire to explore, to look around, to admire the world in which he now found himself. Attention falling on a boy -- a teenager, probably human, but certainly humanoid, who appeared to have not-long arrived. His actions were entertaining, and the Master didn't bother to hide his amused smile as the boy ran through a series of actions, seemingly talking to himself before starting to walk.

As the two subsequently drew closer, the Master, studied him in a little more detail. East Asian; late teens; fairly tall. From his appearance, the Master could see little of note. Nevertheless, he smiled at the teenager; it was relatively charming -- it was the smile that had, with the aid of the Archangel Network, of course -- had almost the entirety of the British public enamoured with him.

"New, I presume". It was more of a statement than a question, and the Master kept his gaze on the teenager for several moments, his expression almost surprisingly open.

It wasn't a terribly difficult task to grab Light's attention, especially in his new-found awareness, considering the possibility of this being something more than a dream, however slim the chance was. At first, he was reluctant to respond, unsure to what extent he'd even wish to humor what he perceived to be a dream entity; the equivalent of what may as well be an imaginary friend mustered up in his head. He glanced back at the man awkwardly, observing him as he observed Light, and letting a short breath escape him before stepping forward.

"Yeah, you could call me that..." Light began, taking a brief pause, "and yourself? You must be a resident of this place, right?" Feigning ignorance, although he admittedly wasn't completely sure that was the case.

Pressing his lips together momentarily, the Master shook his head, a look of vague amusement crossing his face. "Not as such. I've not long found myself here, either". He looked up towards the sky momentarily, towards the floating castle. It was interesting -- the castle, that was, but as of this moment, ultimately irrelevant.

"Although, I suppose with the lack of a discernible exit, for all intents and purposes, as of this moment, I'm a resident. Whatever that means in the long run".

It took Light a moment to process that, torn on how he should take it. On one hand, the conditions explained to him by this man could amount to little more than meaningless stipulations attached to his own dream to give it more substance... but on the other hand, maybe he wasn't getting out anytime soon.

Light let a brief chuckle escape his lips, the tone of which held an indiscernible mixture of arrogance and nervousness. "You're joking, right? No exit? Sorry, but you'll have to forgive me if I find that to be just a bit suspicious..."

The Master tilted his head slightly, his expression taking on a more distinctly amused appearance at the teenager's reaction. "If there was an exit, I wouldn't be stood here, talking to you. You can remain as suspicious as you like, though, it hardly matters to me". A small, slight smirk played at the Master's lips.

"Regardless, I like to think my jokes are better than this. This is particularly unfunny".

That's ok :> in_light_of January 8 2010, 22:13:45 UTC
"Heh..." Light laughed back, only this time it was a bit more irritable in nature, although subtly so. "Even if I were to give you the benefit of the doubt and accept that there aren't any exits, I can still see the sky from here, which means there has to be a way out. Even if the village was closed in by some sort of blockade, or a barrier, nothing is unbreakable, wouldn't you say?"
