Bat - 001

Who: Bat and anyone who comes across him
Where: Espoir
Style: Third
Status: open

Nirvana was nothing like he'd expected.

Everything was so dry, for one thing. Bits of leaves crackled underfoot, dried up from the lack of constant rain, no doubt. Bat was still rubbing at his eyes, unused to the overall brightness of his surroundings ( Read more... )

OH GOD RUN YUKIKO snowsprincess May 12 2009, 00:49:43 UTC
She saw him - a man she'd never recognized... he looked out of place, lost, even. Though something about his strange appearance initially put her off, Yukiko had long learned to not trust looks.

So, she decided to be friendly, as others had been friendly to her when she'd first appeared, and crossed the street over to him. Yukiko smiled politely. "Can I help you?"

Bat's gaze shot to her immediately, and he found himself blinking in surprise despite himself. This girl was like Sera - small, with dark hair and eyes. But her hair was longer, and her clothing... what was that she was wearing?

He had plenty of questions for her (and the beast within was anxious to see how well such soft flesh melted on his tongue), but the first thing he found himself doing was holding out the device. "What's this? Who are you?"

Yukiko almost took a step backwards reflexively at the man's aggressive behavior - and something inside of her flinched at the thought of not having Amaterasu - but she tried to answer as best as she could, as politely as she could.

"I'm Yukiko Amagi. ...that's a Dreamberry. It's sort of like a phone. You can use it to call people, or to record messages."

...Well. That was an unnecessarily long name, wasn't it? He was going to have forgotten it in a few minutes, he was sure. And what sort of name was a Dreamberry? He turned it around in his hands again, frowning at all the buttons with letters and numbers on one side. He pressed one, and the screen lit up, causing him to nearly drop the device in surprise.

"How do I work it?" He frowned at her. Speaking of girls looking like Sera... "And is this Nirvana?"

"... You."

A level, almost bored voice came from overhead... Of course this was only natural seeing as Cheshire was squatting upon one of the nearby rooftops, eying the man below with vague interest. His dark tail swung back and forth slowly a few times before curling around one of the cat-boy's legs; ears flicking in similar rhythm.

"Do you know where this place is?"

The Dreamberry is still being fumbled with, Bat knowing only a little more about it now than he did before. He didn't want to accidentally send out a message to someone. At the voice, he glares upwards and finally catches sight of the silhouette against the still-too-bright glare of the sun.

"Only that it's not where I thought it was." Not that he'd ever truly been certain where Nirvana was. That was beside the point.

It looked like the speaker was another demon - one of the sort that still looked mostly human after transforming. Bat had always wondered what the point was if you weren't going to morph completely.

"So you don't know either?" The feline concluded flatly, now looking rather annoyed with the whole situation. A slight pout had appeared on his face and he sat back against the roof; ears lowering. Putting his nose in the air in an almost haughty manner, Cheshire's single red eye continued to pan over the stranger in disinterest.

"You are... Useless."

One moment Bat was on the ground, in human form and scowling, the next he had transformed and flown up to where the cat-boy was. His hissed through sharp fangs, wings spread out threateningly.

"Say that again." Camazotz's voice had an odd sort of echo, though it came from only one mouth (unlike some demons he could name). "I'll devour you whole."

Danny's only paying enough attention to his surroundings to make sure he stays on the sidewalk and doesn't wander into anyone. His eyes are glued to the Dreamberry in his hands, where his thumbs are wearing themselves out in a hurried array of button-pressing. Anyone familiar with Dreamberries or cellphones might recognize the classic symptoms of 'tunnel-gaming-vision'; those who aren't familiar might think he's just acting weird.

Either way, it's because of this that he doesn't notice other person on the sidewalk, heading in the opposite direction.

Equally entranced by his own device, if for different reasons, Bat runs straight into the boy. The Dreamberry nearly falls from his grasp, but he manages to catch it in time. Quickly regaining his composure, he makes to grab the brat by the front of the shirt with the intent of pinning him against the nearest wall.

"Watch it, you... thing..." He was human, right? They weren't usually this small. He was... younger?

Danny, who'd staggered back and dropped his own Dreamberry in surprise, is grabbed up rather easily. "Wha--!"His hands immediately latch on to Bat's, trying to keep himself from being strangled by his own shirt.

"Okay, okay!" Danny says quickly. "Sorry, it, uh, won't happen again!" It's depressing how quickly he's suddenly reverted to his bullied highschool persona. Just because he's been caught off guard in human form, it's like his weeks away from highschool haven't meant a thing. Of course, they didn't make people at home like they do here--purple hair and a pink tattoo? Danny can't see his clothes, but he's guessing they're just as weird as the rest of him. And did this guy just call him a 'thing'? If Danny weren't so obviously distracted, he might feel insulted.

"What are you?" Bat asked without letting the boy go. His hair and eyes were two different colors. That was something he'd never seen before and, combined with his small stature, this made Danny a unique being as far as Bat was concerned.

He gave the kid a bit of a shake. "Are you human?" Could this be his demon form? It was so plain, if so. Unless it was heavily magic oriented there was no way it could be stronger than his regular form. The way he was shrinking back just supported that theory.
