All my photos are up -- thanks for following along with the home version. Now somehow I need to stay awake for another 20 hours...

In another 32 hours I will be in my house, having been underway for the last 5. I'll have 5 takeoffs and landings before I'm through! The Skeleton Coast of Namibia is a good long way from the capitol.

What shall I eat first? Pizza? Hamburger? Middle eastern? Thai? California? hmmm.

It turns out that the problems he was having were not behavioral, but a cancer that the vet did not detect. He went into the vet just over a week ago, and died yesterday. If you have any memories of him, please send them as a comment.

Just a quick "not dead yet" update. I'm in Botswana, and tomorrow I move on to Namibia. Back on the 29th. I'm still catching up on emails, so this will be very brief!

I'm sitting next to a small pool in the shade, looking down into a dry river valley filled with thousands of migrating zebra, with some elephants for variety and the occasional giraffe. Yesterday's loss of all photos turns out to have been ironic foreshadowing. Today I dropped my camera when handing it off to someone, for to take a photo of me with the falls in the background. It fell, extended lens first, directly onto wet rock. While it's possible that the lens assembly can be replaced and the camera repaired, that will not be ( Read more... )
