Post from Etosha
I find mysef unexpectedly with internet access and thought I'd give a quick not-eaten-by-lions-yet post. 5 more nights, plus one on an airplane. My travels are nearly over.
[The following should not be read by my father whose resulting heart palpitations will not be my fault]
This place (Ongava Tented Camp) has an artificial watering hole in front, along with salt licks which make the antelope of all sorts much friendly than they would otherwise be. But the watering hole also attracts lions, potentially many. And there is no fencing around the property at all, and the water hole is 100' from the lounge chairs. The staff carry rifles at night when they leave the main area to bring us to our tents. I haven't seen any lions here yet, but the sun has just set on my first night...
