Character(s): Angus, Booker, Silence Content: Traveling circus Setting: on the road between the base and the fountain Warnings: more bardic exposition?
The quiet walk calmed Booker down. It reminded him of so many evenings spent skulking about in the dangerous parts of town, enjoying the weather as he looked out for trouble. It was nice of his guest to be quiet.
He had noticed the compass though and remembered that Mr. Wanderer had mentioned being an explorer. Good. Might keep him from getting lost. He talked suddenly. "We're not on the known map right now. I'm extrapolating from a map I saw at the Library settlement. One of the... mages there was making it. The Fountain was roughly straight into the city from the Base but Nei'ess had yet to walk the path. The kid does too much as it is."
Gesturing around them, Booker gave a lopsided smile. "At least the highways seem to be in decent condition and clearer than most of the critters are using. It feels a bit odd every time I walk down one though. So empty and no cars."
"It sounds like you came from a place like this. You said earlier that you also had been brought here unwilling, but had been here longer." If what he was saying was truth, that is. "May I inquire as to how long you and these settlements have been here?"
It can't be too long if they are just working out a map, especially if they have a mage to scribe it for them. Let's just see what answer Booker gives. Angus kept his voice pitched to reach Booker's ears and not carry to draw unwanted attention. The man seemed a little more open to conversation now, thank Fharlanghn.
"I did. This place seems roughly on par with the technology of my world. And my time. I have met a few other people who come from either my world, or one damn close to it, but from an earlier time period. I came from a city called New York on a planet called Earth, near the start of the 21th century. I doubt you have heard of it." Booker climbed over the rubble of a fallen overpass, talking and walking at the same time. He also kept his voice pitched not to carry too far

"I played a game called Dungeons and Dragons when I was younger. I'm pretty sure that your world was one of the settings described for that game. And yeah, it does all make my head hurt after a while." Booker seemed more amused than annoyed by it at the moment at least, a small smile on his face
