Angus was accustomed to traveling in silence, but that was only with his trusted comrades. The urge to talk, to get information from this Booker fellow was strong, but just a glance at the man's closed face and the set of his shoulders told Angus it would be a short conversation if he tried it. So Angus focused on the where's and what's of the city. Who's, how's, and why's would have to wait.

Booker had led him to the shore of the ocean Angus had been smelling. It wasn't really that far away from Sierra's dungeon, though not readily visible through the ramshackle buildings and decrepit magical vehicles. At least Angus presumed magic. There was no sign of a team hitch on any of them. In fact some of them would have never have budged for mere horses or mules.

Booker was keeping a constant eye out for danger, moving much like Tina did in enemy territory. Angus grimaced a bit at that, but did his best to follow suit, moving as quietly and cautiously as he could. It must have worked because nothing attacked.

Once at the shore they turned to the left. There were some very large docks there with equally large iron hulks foundered near them. Angus marveled at the ambition of their builders. They were certainly bigger than any boats he had seen, even at Greyhawk, and not one of them boasted masts for sails. This plane seemed to attract mechanical wonders.

Angus grabbed a quick peek at his compass right after the turn. It seemed they were heading east now. Granted, some of the Explorers had mentioned that the planes were notorious for messing with a prime material compass' readings. He'd have to check into the possibility. But for now, his mental map would mark this direction as east. That would place the wizard towers north of his arrival point.

He sighed a little as he caught up again to Booker. The map would have to stay mental until they took a break. It would be an approximation at best, but he should be able to get landmarks and turns down pretty well. That way he could return to where he started if need be.

Another half hour of silent slinking led the pair to the most amazing road Angus had ever seen. It was separated from the surrounding neighborhoods by thin segmented walls as if to keep travelers out. But there were breaks in that wall allowing another road to join the wide expanse of smooth surface. No stores or inns lined the main road, and the intersections were odd, with one road bridged above the other. It made no sense to Angus, unless it were a royal highway or some such, perhaps one only the ruler or the army could use. Angus shook his head. More mysteries to ponder, the biggest one being the man in front of him.
