She should do their press releases. Lord knows SM and other kpop companies need some better publicity handling.

I'm actually a bit disappointed with Sunny in this instance. I want genius from her, not mastery. But of course one problem is the decision to apologize to fans. My feeling is that a group that does "I Got A Boy" should no longer be a group that apologizes to fans. There's something impossible here anyway, the tension between don't-ask-don't-tell on the one hand and, on the other, some fans wanting a stronger meld between SNSD's lived life and the performed one, and more of a sense of what the actual lived life is (but not all fans wanting the same thing from the lived lives they're observing). This isn't a tension for Sunny to somehow solve, or ease, but I think she ought to have played rougher with the fans.

(But then, I'm not a typical fan.)

I don't read it as a real apology, just polite words said to soothe the more unhealthily attached fans after half the group is revealed to be dating in one spring season. "We live our own lives, but if you were surprised, too bad it all came out at once". In any case it's hard not to give an awkward answer if asked about fans reacting to private stuff like that.

The bizarre thing is that for most of the girls, the reveals seemed okay. The only one I've read any big blowup for is Taeyeon. On the one hand, her boyfriend is a member of a relatively young group, so the fangirls of said boy would have more influence over his career, but the backlash against Taeyeon from self-proclaimed SNSD fans was ridiculously harsh and entitled. I thought Jessica, Tiffany, or Yoona would have inspired devotion more like that of Jpop idols', but I guess Taeyeon's overwhelming popularity relative to the other members isn't primarily mainstream ( ... )

Nice! That was the feeling I get when I read her answer. Assuring fans with sincerity that they still want to go on with the group and they actually do care/knows what the fans want. But on the other hand private matters will stay private and so people who wants to know please back off.

Haven't we established in the other LJ (metacrack was it???) that sunny is very pr-ish. At times too opaque you don't get that idol feel. She's too polished. But well this was for a variety show so I guess this is the best she can do for it to be sincere, humorous and deflective all together.

Have u guys by any chance read the 7th anniversary fan account? It's almost like a full transcript.. I think what sooyoung said sounded really like her heartfelt words.. syoo is always very good with words and always seem to be able to make people feel that warm feeling.

Can you link the fan-account?

I've been catching up on JeKry, too, and there have been some surprisingly serious conversations about industry and their feelings on their careers, both from SNSD and f(x). (SNSD were drunk, and f(x) were punch-drunk on lack of sleep, so filters were pretty off)

Here. Part 2 is where all the emo stuff are.. almost a blow by blow account of the fan meeting.

I need to watch jekry.... no time.... T_T
Well snsd are at a point where I guess they can afford some honesty. Fx.. not too sure.. especially with the Sullivan situation now. Sica sounded really honest in the jap the best interview too. As in her answers didn't sound very packaged but actually hit pretty close to home.
