I'm a posting *machine* this week.

So another set of bogus college lists came out. I must say, the Princeton Review put together a bunch of Top 20s that rival Spin in the "WTF?" factor. I searched for Wesleyan among all their lists, and here's where we turned up:

#8:  Best College TheatreThat's funny, since at Wesleyan, students weren't even allowed to use the main theater ( Read more... )

I think mine was a bit anti-climatic.

We got best libraries #11 and best food #4.

I don't understand how they judge this, because we have 19 libraries and how the hell did Brigham Young beat us? I would imagine that their library has only one book. *rim shot*

Looking at Cornell you'd think that there were no fun categories like the ones you got.

Are those other, loser colleges like Mills, Reed, and Wagner (suddenly all the best colleges sound like housewives from '50s sitcoms) in that many top 15's, though? I'm sensing that we're just really well-rounded. #1 in nothing, but formidable in pot-smoking, tree-hugging, Clinton-loving, queer-accepting, God-screwing, play-acting awesomeness.

Oh, and one of my freshman-year roommates smoked cloves; I can attest to their popularity.

Also, OK, sure, Hampshire is #1 in weed, but what I'm curious about is #s 2-11.

Also, I bet New College of Florida was started in like, 2001, by Wes grads.

poor smith is only represented by being #3 in dorms are like palaces (which is true, my house looked like nancy reagan could easily live there) and by being #16 in gay-friendly. this is clearly not fair has we had only half of the gay population to be friendly towards. we used to also rank in the clinton-missing and clove-smoking catagories, but now smithies must take the PVTA over to hampshire to take care of those needs instead of doing it on campus. honestly.

Actually, Wes never gets especially high marks for housing, but at least when I was there, I thought it was pretty damn excellent.

Word. I moved every semester except senior year, and only once was I submitted to the hardship of a one-room double. And that was in a house that was pretty damn-near palatial.

I think the new dorms they're building, though, are more of the one-room double variety. Pack 'em in, Wes, and collect those tuitions!

all simmons got was "great college towns". stonehill got nothing.

i think at one point not too long ago simmons ranked in a "students least likely to drink" category or something.

My college is on no lists. Probably because we like Jesus; you have to drive to Hampton Roads to get drugs; the College Republicans are . . . well, kind of like real Republicans, i.e. white, wealthy, and powerful; and the gay kids are also white and wealthy. Oh, and our dorms, 30% of which are all colonial and shit, are 70% crap. But we spawned Jon Stewart! Yes we did! We are prouder of him than we are of that slave-shagging traitor Thomas Jefferson!

Oooh, Duke got the Homophobic #1 once too. It embarrassed the school so much that when the a group starting handing out "Gay? Fine By Me!" t-shirts on the quad, the administration gave them enough money to continue printing and handing out gazillions of them.

Now I wear the t-shirt to my gym in Chelsea, and they look at me like they're not sure if I'm joking or not.
